Sleep came soon after the man left. Dreams I don't understand flood my mind as I lay on the hard ground. I hear foot steps in reality around me but my mind is dark and my eyes won't open. I'm stuck in the darkness once again.

Hands shake me minutes later. I groan and slap the hands away. They grab onto me and pull me up. Suddenly my eyes snap open and I see the man holding me. His eyes. I look away from his eyes. His eyes do something to people. I can't look at him.

"Toby!" He yells. Toby runs up to him out of nowhere.

Toby's eyes flicker to mine for just a second. "Yes sire?" His eyes leave mine just as quickly as they had met. They look glazed over as soon as they meet the man's eyes. There is something with his eyes...

"Bring me the key to these chains. I'm taking her elsewhere." The man commands. I feel his eyes on me but I don't dare look.

"Yes sire." Toby rushes off again with a last look to me.

"I have such great plans for you. If you choose to do them anyway. And if you don't..." He pauses and lifts my chin to make me look at him but I quickly close my eyes. "You will be given punishment."

I don't answer him and I feel him back away. I let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding.

"Here you are sire." I hear Toby's voice out of the deafening silence.

"Ah, yes. Thank you, Toby. You may leave now." I open my eyes slowly to see Toby nod and head out the door. The man walks toward me and I back into the wall again. He stops in front of me. I avoid his eyes and look rather at his lips. "What's your name little flame?"

Little flame? Does he know? How does he know?

I keep my mouth shut, not wanting him to know anything about me. I don't feel comfortable with anyone I don't know having the advantage of knowing my name. Let alone what I can do.

"Oh my little flame." He shakes his head and tsks. "You are so stubborn." I close my eyes as he bends down. "You'll break soon enough." I feel his hands grip my wrists and he unties them. He does the same with my ankles and I do little to escape. I won't be able to. Don't ask me how I know, I just do.

He grabs my wrists and pulls me along and I open my eyes to follow him. He looks back periodically but I make sure to not make eye contact.

After walking down several hallways of closed doors, the man pushes me into a room and follows closely behind me, shutting the door and locking it. The room has a large bed and is fancy. It's fit for a king really. I stand up quickly note free of all shackles.

"What's your name my little flame? You never told me." He asks once more.

"I never wanted to." I speak boldly. Our at least trying to be bold.

The man shakes his head. "What is your name?" He says with more force.

"How am I supposed to tell you mine when I don't even know yours?" I stall not wanting to give him any knowledge about me.

"Rafe." Is all he says.

"What?"

"My name is Rafe. Now the proper thing to do is tell me your name." He walks closer to where I stand. I instinctively back away. My knees hit the side of the bed.

I think of all other things I could say beside my own true name. "Carey."

"I've heard otherwise. I know that the girl who was chosen by Axel had a name the started with a 'D'. Now what was it..." He pauses for only a second. "I want your real name. And you will give it to me."
