Two weeks before

Last day of school. Summer here I come. Reading on the beach, parties with all my friends and chilling by the pool ... reading. Only six more periods and I'm free. After school, I've got Alex's party to get ready for. It's our tradition for the whole year on the last day of school we meet at Alex's and we have a big party just like the ones we saw in the movies when we were little. Now we're in year 11 and everything ... no everyone has changed we started not seeing each other and studying alone stressing and putting so much pressure on ourselves to get that perfect A.

Throughout the years there was one that we could count on to just relax and take a breather and that was this party.

Her parents are off working most of the time and they couldn't care less about whether she was having a party or having a couple of friends over as long as she didn't get in their way.

She craved their attention at first it was rebelling and getting in trouble but that just made them disappointed and which was defiantly worse so then she went turned herself around and spent all her time studying which made them happier at first but after that, the novelty wore off they went back to ignoring her. And then when she was old enough to take care of herself they started going overseas for work.

So the attention she craved she found at school with her stunning looks, long blonde hair and tanned skin everyone loved her well at first with her rebellious acts she was the class clown entertaining the class whilst frustrating the teacher this lasted for a year before she realised it wasn't worth it now she is all of the teachers co-favourite student (we share that role).

Ever since year 8, we have been top of the class and the best of friends since then.

I envied her back in year 7 that she could be so careless, just do whatever she wanted and that she was so confident with whatever she did. Me? I was a wallflower and I decided to just fit in and let all this just get it all over with, get good grades and get on with my life.

Until one day near the end of year 7 I was going to class and it was in the middle of winter and it was pouring down and I was drenched and Amberwood High being the busy place that it is and also my luck mixed into it some big guy bashed into me and I went face first into a massive puddle and now I was dirty, wet and going to be late for class I looked at my books and laptop and they were wet and dirty too. Shoot!

Then I saw someone standing up in front of me. And there she was smiling not at me but in a friendly way and she had her hand out so I took it and she helped me up dragged me to what I guessed was her locker, opened it, pulled out a bag and took me into the toilets.

Thanks to Amberwood's no uniform policy we could wear what we wanted.

"Here," she said chucking the bag on the floor "Spare clothes get changed and I'll sort your hair our after."

"Thanks," I say in reply as I go into one of the stalls.

"No worries."

Little did we know that that was the start of an awesome friendship.

When I came out the stall she and I both knew that this defiantly wasn't my style. My usual attire to school was very casual like trackies. But this ... this was something different altogether it was a white singlet saying 'I'll sleep when I'm dead.' with black ripped jeans, a black leather jacket, a black beanie, a red scarf, black and white converse and my silver necklace.

As she observed me, her mouth was wide open and the sides of her lips curling into a smile.

"Before you look in the mirror come here and let me fix your face a bit." I normally have some light make-up on but I can now feel that my mascara isn't waterproof well would've probably been fine if it was just the rain but falling into a puddle face first I don't think any mascara would have been able to withstand it.

She took a step back observing me and she had eyeliner in her hand and she was biting the other end like she was some artist checking over her work.

"Oh my god," she said. "Come over here and admire my masterpiece." Let me just thank god that Amberwood has mirrors in the toilets. I won't lie I do look good. In my baggy sweats my slim figure was hidden (like I said 'fit in') but this I was not expecting.

My clothes looked really good together and then the make-up was so ... professional and I looked like I just stepped off a catwalk. My make-up was just like Rihanna (smokey eye, maroon lipstick and winged eyeliner).

"Here" she passed me a bottle of perfume.

"Thanks" I reply and before she could say anything else "I mean really no one's ever been this nice and shoot your missing class I'm so sorry. Umm.. we need to go anyway or else we'll miss class ... well, more than what we've already missed." I was rushing around collecting all my clothes up and she just stood there doing nothing just laughing at me. "What?"

"You're so funny and anyway if we just wait 'till the end of the period then go to the next class and we have a perfectly good enough excuse." I thought about it and yes it was a good enough reason.

So that's what we did we were talking about ourselves and I told her about me moving from England and she looked awestruck she said she wants to go England and go traveling and I said that I did too. I turned out that we had a lot in common.

So when the bell went to signal the end of the lesson we said goodbyes and went to our lockers. I stuffed my clothes into my locker and put my stuff from last lesson in, got up, brushed down my new outfit and my hair and walked to class. By the time I got there everyone was staring at me so I just ducked my head down and went to the back of the line. One of the boys from my class, Casper Stone also the hot shot/ second most popular guy/ best friends with Jason Carter aka my crush since year 7/ absolute jerk comes up to me and puts his arm around me and says:

"Hey Chandler, whats up?" I can feel all the girl's eyes burning into my skull.

"Hey, nothing much you?" I reply like I'm not having a heart attack

"Nothing, but you've gotta come check out Carter's party next week."

"Maybe," I say casually.

"See you there." He says as the teacher appears in front of the class.

Two Wednesday detentions I got (which is when you have to stay after school for an hour on a Wednesday), but it was fun coz I got loads of time to do my work and Alex kept saying little things that just made me laugh. I won't lie my style has changed I've started wearing things that actually fit me instead of one or two sizes too big hiding my figure...
