~Chapter One~
I was curled up into a cozy ball on my couch, flipping through some sappy overdramatic romantic novel when Rainy barged through my front door, scaring me half to death. Her long tousled firery red hair was pulled up into a messy ponytail. I remember the days when her hair hadn't been that red, her hair had been naturally a dirty blonde color and her name hadn't always been Rainy. She was called Isabella for most of her life up until last year when she turned eighteen. Next thing I knew her hair was died red and I was calling her Rainy. I, still to this day, am the only person she lets call her Izzy and that is only on occasions. Rainy had always been a free spirit, even when we first met in 2nd grade on the playground. During our first conversation with her she had dared me to climb the monkey bars, but me being the timid girl I was I declined shyly and looked down at the ground. A few minutes later Rainy was on top of the monkey bars and within the blink of an eye she was on the ground with a broken arm. I went to the hospital after school to see her and give her candy in hopes of making her feel better and actually ended up spending the night in the room with her. And we've been inseperable ever since.
"C'mon Bia we got to hurry or else we're going to be late." Rainy yanked the novel from my thin fingers and tossed it on the coffee table in front of me.
"Late for what?" I questioned nervously. Rainy had always kept me on my toes ever since we were young. She had a love for going on spontaneous adventures and always made a point to drag me along, whether I wanted to or not.
"I'm taking you to a party tonight." Rainy's face lit up as her sly smile slid across her face. Her deep mossy green eyes flickered with that devilish look that she always had.
"No, nope. Not happening. No way in hell am I going." I crossed my arms and stared her down. I wasn't ever been the partying type. Throughout highschool I went to a total of 2 parties, one was a pool party freshman year were I spent most of it wrapped up in my towel hovering over the chip bowl waiting for my mom to come pick me up, and the 2nd was a girl's in my English class junior year where I left within the first 10 minutes because a drunken idiot threw up all over my shirt.
"I invite you to go to parties every weekend and you always refuse and then you just sit here in your depressing little bubble reading books and watching Netflix. This time I am not taking no for an answer!" Rainy tugged on my wrist and pulled me up the staircase to my room. She ravaged through my closet trying to find something worthy enough to wear to one of these "crazy" parties.
"Ugh, you have absolutely nothing to wear. If I didn't know any better I would think this closet belonged to a middle aged woman who worked as a librarian for a living." Rainy teased as she picked through my endless supply of plain sweaters and loose baggy skirts.
"Good thing I brought back up clothes." Rainy's infamous sly smile returned to her face as I rolled me eyes. Knowing her she probably brought fishnet tights, a skin tight skirt, and a low cut tank top with matching heels to pull together the whole outfit that resembled something a stripper would wear. When she came back upstairs with her purse she pulled out exactly what I had expected, but instead of fishnets she brought shear black tights.
"Absolutely not, I refuse to look like a hooker." I snapped. "No offense Izzy." I apologized. She shrugged it off, she was never one to get hurt feelings easily.
"Okay I'll go but on one condition..." Her face lit up, she was simply excited at the fact that I was agreeing to go with her. "I'm wearing jeans and a plain v-neck. Nothing less than that." I continued as she squealed and clapped in excitement. I giggled at her 7 year old-like reaction.
"Can you at least wear a little bit of mascara and just a tiny smudge of lip gloss. Please?" Rainy begged and I just nodded and agreed just to get her off my back. She quickly applied mascara and lip gloss to my face before I had time to stop her. I pulled on a pair of faded jeans which fit a little tighter and my bottom and then I slipped a light grey v-neck which brought out my hazy grey eyes. I grabbed my phone and purse and ran downstairs and out the door to Rainy's car before I changed my mind.
We pulled out of the driveway and headed down the street when Rainy started talking about how amazing this party will be and who all is going. "You'll never guess who is going to be there tonight." Rainy giggled in excitement and didn't even wait for me to ask. "Smoke is going to be there." She blurted out in excitement.
I could feel my stomach do continuous flips and my pulse beated faster and faster. All I knew about Smoke was that he is a bad boy and all he is is trouble. And I know for a fact, me and trouble don't mix well.
