Her body seemed to be frozen in shock.
“Yes! Yes! Oh, Merlin, yes,” she grinned, wrapping her arms around his neck.
“Really?” He dared to ask. She nodded, smiling from ear to ear. He kissed her, resting his forehead against hers and tucking a stray curl behind her ear.
“Let me put it on you,” he insisted, lifting it from the box and sliding it onto her finger. She lifted her hand in front of her, admiring it.
“I know it’s not much…” he began but she interrupted him.
“It’s lovely,” she promised, planting a kiss on his cheek. He felt relief course through his body. He pulled her close, enjoying the moment.
“So, when do you want to…uh…?” She asked, laughing nervously.“I’m not sure. I mean I can’t really…” he trailed off, feeling slightly embarrassed.
“I can’t really give you a big wedding, at least not right now. But I think we should do it soon. Time isn’t exactly on our side,” he cringed, reminded of reality.
“I agree. The sooner, the better,” she smiled, though the thought of what this meant for them threatened to ruin the happiness.
“We should probably do it off the books,” she said now, “if the ministry found out…” She shuddered. If the ministry found out that she even associated with Remus, she was sure to be arrested. To be married to him; however, meant certain death for the both of them.
“Off the books, certainly. Maybe just a few witnesses?” He suggested.
“That sounds perfect,” she reassured him. They lapsed into a blissful silence, each lost in their thoughts. Aurora couldn’t believe it- she was getting married. It was something that she had never given much more than a fleeting thought. The thought of being his fiancée, and then his wife, sent a pleasant sensation fluttering through her stomach.

Aurora found it easier to get out of bed the next morning. She made sure to take off the ring before leaving, as she knew it would draw unwanted attention. As she walked into the ministry the next morning, she was practically bursting with the news. She wanted to tell everyone, but alas, knew that was stupid to even think of. She had to tell Kinsey though. And Sadie.
She found it easy to lie through her teeth- "Yes Dolores, I'll need copies of those files immediately."- And had to force herself to remain visibly emotionless.
She didn't have a chance to talk to Sadie in private; rather, Sadie seemed rather bent on them not being alone together. She was too busy running errands and repairing their office to tell Kinsey. This is why she agreed to meet Kinsey at a bar nearby directly after work had let out. She had sent Remus an owl explaining that she would be a little late getting home so that he wouldn't worry.
Kinsey was sitting at the bar, on his second fire whiskey of the night. He knew there would be many more coming after that, but he was taking it slow. He felt a hand on his shoulder and turned to see her face, inches from his.
"Finch." He nodded, smiling.
"Thought I might find you here. Did you know that I have searched three pubs already?" Aurora teased, sitting next to him at the bar. He sat up a bit straighter, running a hand through his hair.
