“So when is this wedding?” Sadie asked as Aurora sat down next to her in the canteen. Aurora shushed her, looking around quickly to make sure no one had overheard them, before letting herself smile.

“We don’t know yet. Kingsley agreed to perform the ceremony, but we don’t have a place to do it yet. Our place is much too small and the Weasley’s house is being tracked…” Aurora trailed off, frowning slightly.

“Have it at my place!” Sadie exclaimed excitedly. Aurora raised an eyebrow.

“Seriously; the living room is big enough if I move around some furniture and my place isn’t being tracked. It would be nice to have some people there. It’s been awfully quiet,” Sadie admitted. Aurora couldn’t help but grin.

“Really?” She asked. Sadie laughed.

“Yes, really. What about this weekend? The sooner the better, right?” Sadie suggested. Aurora’s eyes widened. This was all happening so soon.

“I’ll talk to Remus and see what he thinks, but that would be great!” She exclaimed.

“I’ve got to get back to work,” Aurora said, checking the time. Her break was almost over. She stood and made her way back to her office, finding it difficult not to smile giddily or to jump around from the excitement she felt inside. Sure, part of her was terrified that this was all happening, terrified of what it would mean. But a greater part of her was so looking forward to it.

It became a lot easier to sober her emotions once she saw that stack of files sitting on her desk. So far, she and Kinsey had managed just to work on the cases that they’d had before the coup and filing away closed cases from Umbridge’s file. There was a note on top of the file, written on pink paper that smelled of some sickly-sweet perfume.

The Minister and I feel that it would be most prudent to focus on the open cases right now.

Dolores Umbridge

Senior Undersecretary to the Minister

Head of the Muggle Born Registration Committee

Aurora gritted her teeth and sat down, opening the first file. The words were blurred from the tears burning in her eyes.

She tried to push aside her worries once she arrived home. After all, she had good news to share. She greeted Remus with a deep kiss.

“Sadie wants us to have the wedding at her house. She said we could do it as early as this weekend, too,” she told him. He returned her smile.

“That sounds great. I’ll double check with Kingsley, but I’m sure it will work,” he assured her.

“I can’t wait to be married,” he admitted now. Aurora laughed.

“Me either. I just can’t believe this is really happening,” she said. She wanted to tell the world, but sadly, that was not an option. She wouldn’t even be able to wear her wedding ring outside of the house. Maybe one day when—if – this mess ended, she could tell everyone.

Sadie was fed up with the way things were being run at the ministry. She had chosen to work in the daycare on the atrium level because she loved kids. She had wanted to be a teacher, originally, but there weren’t any open positions at Hogwarts as it was. She had been at the ministry ever since she graduated in ’95, and never had things been this bad. They’d replaced Meredith, the woman who worked with her, because Meredith was a muggle born. There was no doubt in Sadie’s mind that Meredith was dead, though she tried to keep the hope alive.

They’d replaced Meredith with a Death Eater called Davidson, a mean bloke who thought it was entertaining to pit the children against each other. Sadie interfered, much to his annoyance, but he didn't make a snide comment like he usually did.
