Tag You're It
Third Person P. O. V.
Naruto sat on the swingset in the park, alone, watching as the kids played. He had came there right after school to clear his head from school, which he did often. The kids in his grade would make fun of him for everything and anything, especially his whisker marks. His nickname was 'demon' on the count of the whisker marks, and his temper. No matter how many times he tried to push away the hurtful words of others, it always seemed to reach him. He sometimes wondered why he couldn't be normal, because then he wouldn't be made fun of.
"Tag, you're it Sasuke" he heard a girl yell. His eyes landed on who he guessed to be Sasuke. The boy was at least his age, which was 10, and had black hair and black eyes. Naruto watched as the boy ran to tag another kid, unable to as they were all faster than him. Oh how the blonde wished he could run around and avoid being tagged like the other kids. He wished he could laugh and play with friends that would never turn their backs on him. In a way, he envied this boy Sasuke. Naruto looked down at the ground, not wanting to see the kids having fun as it made him realize he would never have that.
"Oi! Blondie!" Naruto looked up from the ground, his eyes meeting black ones " Do you want to play tag with us? Our friend just left, and it would be nice to have an even number" Sasuke said, a smile on his face. Naruto wondered if Sasuke knew who he was, and how the others treated him. He looked back to Sasuke's friends, all of them had different expressions as they looked back at him. Surprisingly none had seemed to have a malicious stare. Naruto looked back up at Sasuke, who seemed to have an almost impatient look on his face as he waited for Naruto to answer.
"No. I don't want to play tag with you, or your friends" He practically whispered. Sasuke looked confused as to why the blonde would deny him. It wasn't every day a kid had said no to playing tag, especially those who looked lonely. The only reason Naruto didn't want to play was because he felt the kids would trick him, and would end up making fun of them. After all, it was what everyone had done to him. The blonde looked away from Sasuke, hoping he would get the message to leave and go back to playing with his friends. But Sasuke wasn't ready to give up just yet.
"Okay, I have an idea. If I tag you, then you have to be my friend. I have to do it in under a minute too. If you don't get tagged, I'll leave you alone. Deal?" Sasuke asked. Naruto looked up at Sasuke, wondering if he was serious. No one had ever wanted to be his friend as no one liked him. The raven smiled at him, sticking his arm out for Naruto to shake if he said yes. His blue eyes widened as he had realized the boy was serious, but he could never be too careful. Something inside of him urged him to shake Sasuke's hand, and he did.
"Deal" Naruto said as he shook Sasuke's hand. The raven smiled even wider in victory as he pulled the blonde from the swing, and to his group of friends. Naruto wanted to pull away from Sasuke, and go back to being alone like before. But the grip of him made it impossible for the blonde to escape, so he just went along with it. The raven introduced Naruto to his friends, although Naruto didn't remember any of them. He was too busy looking at Sasuke, and trying to figure him out.
"Okay Naruto, I'm it. It's just us two, and they will count." Sasuke said. The raven motioned for Naruto to go and get a headstart. Naruto ran from Sasuke, going up the stairs to the very top of the playground set, and sitting right at the top by the slide. He watched as Sasuke finally ran to get him, going up the stairs as fast as he could. Naruto pushed himself for his spot and began to go down the slide. He could hear Sasuke huff in annoyance as he finally reached where Naruto once was.
"You're too slow Sasuke, you'll never catch me" Naruto taunted. Sasuke pushed himself down the slide, and charged towards the blonde. Naruto laughed as he began to circle around the playground set, Sasuke right behind him. Something inside of the blonde made him want to stop, and let Sasuke tag him. Maybe it was because he wanted to have a friend, even if it was only because of the deal they made, he wanted a friend. Was it so bad that he wanted a friend?
"I'm going to catch you!" Sasuke yelled as he began to get even closer to Naruto. The blonde ran up the playground set, going back to the place he had started at. Sasuke followed him up, right on his heels. Right before Naruto could go down the slide, and escape the raven, he felt a soft nudge on his shoulder. He turned around to see a grinning Sasuke with one hand on his shoulder. Naruto tried to hide his obvious smile as the fact that Sasuke tagged him, like he had wanted.
"It seems you got me. And I guess that means I have to be your friend." Naruto said, although he had a frown on his face. What if Sasuke didn't want to be his friend, and he had tricked him. It wasn't like this would be the first time, and surely wouldn't be the last. It was a possibility that Sasuke truly wanted to be his friend, but the chances were slim. Sasuke noticed the sad look on Naruto's face, making him wonder if he had did something wrong. All he wanted was for Naruto to be his friend.
"I want to be your friend Naruto, I always have. So come on and play with us" a devious smile appeared on his face" Tag, you're it! Come on everyone he's it" Sasuke yelled as he ran from the blonde. Sasuke's friends ran in all directions as they wanted to avoid being tagged. Naruto was at a loss for words as, for once, the kids ran from him for a different reason. He pushed himself down the slide and began to chase after someone so that they would be it. But no one really seemed to notice that the one person he tried to tag was Sasuke.
