Amy runs away from her Dad as usual. Her mom has been dead for 2 years now. Her Dad has a drinking problem and won't stop. "Get back here I'm not done with you!" Her Dad Peter yelled at her. She ignored her Dad and kept running until she ran into a boy. "I'm sorry." She said. "No I'm sorry I should've been looking. I'm Tyler." He said staring at her. "I'm Amy." She answered with a smile. "I have to get to school. See you soon!" Amy said running to the school. Tyler was about to ask her something but the girl left. He wondered what happened.

"Late again Ms. Hacket." My history teacher said. "I'm sorry." I say not caring. I can never tell anyone about my father. Every day everyone asks my about my bruises. I can't answer. "Now! Ms. Hacket!" I look up. "Yes?" I raise my eyebrow. "People are saying you are being abused at home. Is that true?" My eyes go wide at her words. She raises her eyebrow. She go's over to her desk and calls someone.
"Yes. Is this Pete Hacket?" She asks on the phone. I stand up quickly. "No!" She looks over at me. "Sorry." I sat back down. "Yes. Mr. Hacket we are hearing that you are abusing your daughter." Her eyes go wide a few minutes later. Her jaw drops and she hangs up her phone. "Ms. Hacket." She points at me and signals me to her. I look down and walk over to her. "Yes." I say. "Your father says that he does abuse you at home. Your not going back home after school. Your coming with me or a different teacher. Every day you come to my class with new bruises. I can't let that happen to you. Ok?" She asks me. "Yes ma'am. And he's always drunk." I say. "Stay after class and we'll talk." I nod my head and go back to my desk.
"You okay?" A boy next to me asked me. "What do you care?" I rolled my eye at him. "It might be weird because I have better grades then you. But I'm worried about you." I rolled my eyes at him again. "Okay fine." He said paying attention to the teacher again.
The bell rings. I get up and head to her desk. She smiles at me. I get this feeling that i haven't felt in a long time. A smile. "Your staying with me. And i'll make sure he doesn't find you. Now You've met Josh right?" She asked me. I raised my eyebrow. "The boy next to you. He's my son.' My eyes go wide. "Uh Oh." I say. "What is it?" She asked me worried. "Today he asked me how I was doing and I kinda-" I stopped myself knowing she would say something about it. "Its okay. What was it?" She asked me grabbing my hands. "I was kinda rude to him." She smiled at me. "That's fine. Even though it's not nice. Its okay." I smiled back. "I'll see you on after your last period. Here's a late slip." She's says and hands me a piece of paper. "Thank you." I say and walk out.
After Last Period
"Mrs. Dun." I smiled walking into her classroom. "Y- Oh, it's you Amy." She smiled back taking a stack of papers off of her desk. "Of course. Who else would it be?" I ask. "My son," She smiled. "Or anyone who needed help with anything. It could be anyone." She says grabbing her bag. "Let's go." She said. I nodded my head and bit my lip. What was it like being over at her house?
