The prison bell rang and the prisoners, in their strange wolf packs, trudged towards the school building. Of course these prisoners weren't wearing orange jumpsuits, rather fashionable crop tops or basketball shorts. I sauntered around the edges of the crowd, taking my sweet time getting to class. I knew quite a few people in my next class, one who was deemed a hero for saving a piece of food and another who couldn't look at my face without bursting into laughter. Third period was always an experience. Its when I fell behind the crowd when I realized someone was heading down the stairs, intent on me. He cautiously but quickly stepped down the stairs, almost on the tips of his toes. It seemed he had abandoned his backpack and almost seemed anxious about something. It wasn't until he reached the bottom step when I recognized him. He was someone from my third period who I talked to often. A sweet guy, quite funny and reserved. I was curious what he was doing in such a rush and that curiosity only grew when he charged towards me and grabbed my wrist. With a delicate pull, he tugged me into the downstairs building. I tried my best to object his grasp but he only held on tighter. He only spoke when I asked him where he was going.
"We're in the media center today,"
I let out a fake ohhh as if I was satisfied with his answer.
"But then why don't you have your backpack?" I followed up as he pulled me through the hall. He didn't answer. He came to a sudden stop by the familiar door leading to the media center, but a sign was clearly taped on the wooden surface blatantly stating The Media Center Is Closed
I furrowed my brow as he let go of my wrist and starred at the door, wide-eyed.
"What's going on?" I asked as he turned his head to me. He was less anxious now. Instead a soft and kind look that made me almost uneasy. Instead of answering he reached for the doorknob and turned it, creaking the door open. It was pitch black and he wandered in, beckoning me to come with him.
"There's no way I'm going in there with you!" I shouted but he simply reached out and pulled me in before the door could even shut. My eyes adjusted to the darkness almost so that I could see his face.
I looked around in the awkward silence but all I could make out was the soft outline of his pale blue eyes. I paused, almost lost in hypnotic blue ocean that was his eye.
I snapped myself out and put on a serious face.
"Seriously what's going on?" It was when I said this when the a line of lights flashed on. They flickered and shifted between on and off until finally it created a heart. I could feel myself heating up.
"S-so this was a ploy to confess to me? I'm missing class you know!" I said, quite flustered and unaware what to say. He chuckled and turned to me. The light lit up his face and for once I could see every detail. The freckles of green peppered throughout his sky blue eyes and his nice neat smile. I couldn't help but smile at him as he wrapped his arms around my waist and hugged me tight. I, still flustered, stood stiff and still, quite confused upon how and what he was doing.
And before we knew it the prison bell rang and it was fourth period.
