After informing Griffin of my latest dream I decided to take a run to Cam's. Phoenix's wounds were healing up nicely in the spare room but the ex-exile hadn't yet returned to consciousness. The run didn't take long and I quickly found myself outside the D'Arcy house. Cam's mum opened the door with a pleasant yet strangely surprised beam. Her mouse coloured hair was knotted in a loose bun sitting haphazardly on her head.
"Rosie," she greeted, "How are you dear? Would you like to come inside?" Stepping aside she allowed me into the hall.
"Thanks, Mrs D'Arcy," I grinned, "I'm well thanks. Is Cam up?" Her mother mockingly frowned and looked at her watch. She had done a stint in the state theatre company and sometimes it showed.
"I've told you a hundred times to call me Kathryn," she complained, "It's too early in the morning to be business-like." Then she cracked a smile.
"Cam left for a run five minutes ago," Mrs D'Arcy continued, "Said she was heading off to see you, but she took off in the wrong direction, it seems." I smirked.
"I'm staying at a family friend's place for a week or two while my parents are at an urgent business meeting," I explained, "She must have forgotten." Mrs D'Arcy nodded.
"Well," she grinned, "You'll have to catch up with her. Cameron doesn't own a mobile."
"See you later, Kathryn," I grinned back, "What time do you want Cam back?"
"No later than midnight," Mrs D'Arcy replied, "Feel free to let her sleep over but ring first." I said my good-byes and took off once again at a run. I found her eight minutes later.
"Cam!" I greeted, "Wrong house." She looked up at me from her sitting position on my front steps and shook her head. Her face was frighteningly blank, just like last night.
"No," she stated simply, "I'm waiting." I stared at her in confusion as apprehension quickly blossomed in my stomach.
"Waiting?" I questioned drawing out the word, "For who?" My eyebrows creased into a frown and I bit my lip.
"You know," she answered, "He told me to come here. I did. I'm waiting. It's important I don't know."
"Cam?" now I was worried. My friend stared up at me, eyes calm and unseeing. I couldn't get the words out of my mouth. I knew who she'd seen. Doubts plagued my mind. Who was he sending? Did I really want to go through with this?
"Hello ladies," came a deep voice from behind me. Shivers ran up and down my spine and I slowly turned around.
"You would be Miss Cameron D'Arcy, I assume?" the man smiled pleasantly. My friend nodded silently as he came up and kissed her hand.
"And Rosaline Wood," his eyes sparkled deviously as he spoke, "Finally we meet face-to-face."
"Who are you?" I fired, "And what the heck are you doing here?" He continued to smile as he gestured to Cam.
"You wanted her to forget," he explained, "And so she shall."
Unknown POV
"Finally we meet face-to-face," I smiled faking confidence. She was even more stunning up close. Her fine pale features reflected the warm sun's rays. Her green eyes fierce and guarded.
"Who are you?" her tone cut me but I didn't allow it to show, "And what the heck are you doing here?" I struggled to fight the part of me that wanted to lean in and kiss her and make her mine.
