Olympia sat on the edge of the cliff. The ocean before her glowed orange with the setting sun. It was a place of calm, but today, Olympia just felt alone.
As always, no-one had congratulated her on her birthday. After all, there wasn’t a single other person who lived within biomes and biomes. All she had for company were the mobs, and two stiff iron golems were hardly going to care for her. There was no point asking the hostile mobs. They’d simply attack her without even listening to her.
Olympia looked at the diamond sword in her hand. She could see her face reflected in the iridescent surface, looking back at her with a sorrowful expression. What was the point of having a sword, anyway? It would be best for her to be killed by them. The sword only brought pain. Without a second thought, she threw it into the sea.
She could barely hear the small splash that resulted from the weapon’s fall, but somehow, it made her feel better. Rummaging through her inventory, Olympia found a pickaxe – another useless item. It was pointless to craft anything to defend herself from the mobs now; so why should she need a pick to mine materials? Into the sea it went.
Then she found something. Something she had only read once, but kept forever. It was a book Herobrine had given her, and in it, there was only one line:
I love you.
Those words had been more powerful than anything else he could have written, and yet… he had left her. Like everyone else.
Olympia couldn’t even bring herself to open it. It was too emotional for her to keep. It deserved to sink deep under the sea, like the rest of them. She raised her hands-
-and dropped the book on the floor. She had heard something, like someone speaking. She was sure of it.
“I think you dropped something,” someone said, and Olympia whirled around to see Herobrine, holding her sword and pick. Seawater dripped onto the ground. She gaped at him with shock.
“I… I don’t believe it,” Olympia said huskily. “Is it… really you? It’s been so long…”
“Of course it is,” Herobrine grinned.
Slowly, for the first time in a long while, Olympia’s lips curled up into a smile. “Welcome back.”
“Oh, and one more thing.” Herobrine leaned over to Olympia, and gave her a loving kiss on the cheek.
“Happy birthday.”
