Dark Alpha Mate

Chapter 1

Clementine's POV:

I've always been just a simple normal girl with simple looks and a simple life. I'm not really the type that tons of guys would take notice of, my hair is a jet black one and my eyes are the darkest of brown that you'll ever see. The only thing that I can be pretty much be confident and proud of is my red lips that never once looked chapped. For the past 18 years of my life I've only had 2 boyfriends, in which the most previous one was the only serious one. I'm not really in a hurry to find someone or even find my mate since I still enjoy my freedom, plus love always comes with pain which can be such a drag.

"HELLO? EARTH TO CLEMENTINE!" called Sapphire as she snaps her fingers in front of my face.

"Oh, yeah. What were we talking about again?" I asked her as I snapped out of day dreaming. I take in what was in front of me as I can't really remember what we were doing up to now. I saw bags of chips, a box of pizza, and the animated movie Spirited Away playing on my TV.

Oh shoot! I forgot we were having a sleep over. I live at the pack house since my dad died as a warrior when I was still 5 due to an attack of an opposing pack. My mom immediately became depressed and soon her wolf has left her hanging and wouldn't respond and refused to shift so they both died after a couple of months. Black Raven is the name of my pack and Sapphire's father is the current Alpha, I was a mess when both my parents died but Black Raven never did once made me feel that I was alone.

"You never really listen to my stories and gossips, you always make sure you zone out when I'm talking" she rolls her blue eyes heavenwards and stuffs her face with chips.

I scoot closer to her and place my right arm around her shoulder as I try to make the saddest puppy eyes I could muster "I'm sorry Saph, I know you still love me though hehe."

"Ugh, be thankful that I'm not that of a violent person or else I would've already kicked your ass" as she flips her blond hair into my face.

"Thanks Master Sapphire for sparing my bum" while I bowed a bit showing how "thankful" I was to her.

"Whatever. Anyways, I want you to go with me to my mate's pack. I'll be moving there in a few days so I want to introduce you to him and his pack."

Sapphire just met Jasper, her gamma mate about a week ago at a party she attended to. I wasn't there since I lied that I had a fever but in all honesty I'm just not really a fan of it and just prefer staying at home.

She stood up and grabbed a black fitted dress from my closet which I have never really worn. I waited for her while practically letting my eyes beg for her not to let me wear it.

"We have to be there by 5:00 so you better keep moving. Take a bath and I'll do your make-up after, please don't argue with me. I know how you prefer jeans but this is a really important day to me so I want my important best friend to be there with me all the way." She hugged me tight as she says this and kissed my cheek. I couldn't possibly resist her, she's like a sister to me and I would do anything for her even if it also means wearing a dress. I hugged her while muttering an okay, I grabbed my towel and robe soon after we hugged and went inside my bathroom.

I'm glad that Sapphire didn't force me to wear heels and agreed to let me wear sandals instead. Don't get me wrong, I'm not really a hater of dresses and heels. I just really don't think they look nice to me so I always prefer wearing pants and rubber shoes.

"Come on! It's this way!" yelled Sapphire as she practically drags me to a really wide garden. It's been decorated nicely with lights and tables and food, drinks, and they even put up a disco ball in the middle where I saw people dancing. I'm guessing this is gonna be a welcoming party for Saph.

Sapphire searched through the crowd and when she couldn't she started to close her eyes sniffing the scent of her mate. After a few seconds she suddenly opened her eyes and shrieked which gave me a mini-heart attack.

"There he is! Jasper baby! We're here!" sometimes I'm embarrassed as to how loud my best friend can be. I saw a guy about 5'9 with dirty blond hair and green eyes coming our way. He has the biggest grin I have ever seen a guy could ever make while looking at Sapphire.

"Hello there gorgeous" Jasper says as she hungrily looks at Sapphire in her bloody red dress with black heels that made her look 5'6 in which she originally was just 5'4. He gave her a peck on the lips, and I already know he wanted to do more than that since mates can never really get enough of each other and always want to remain extremely close to their significant other.

"Ehem" I cleared my throat to get their attention, if I didn't do that then they would probably just stare at each other and forget about me.

"Oh, I forgot. Jasper baby, this is Clementine my best friend. Clem, this is my handsome mate Jasper" Sapphire points at each one of us as she introduces us to one another. We both said hi and shook each other's hands.

"I want to introduce you guys to Alpha Thunder, but I don't really know where he currently is." He rubbed the back of his neck and laughed. He decided to introduce us to some of the pack members and telling us stories about his pack.

I was shocked to know that their pack name is the Midnight Moon. It is considered as one lead by the currently youngest Alpha and have been recognized by most packs in the country for their fighting skills and unity as a pack.

After an hour or so of introducing us to some people, Jasper asked Sapphire for a dance. It was so obvious that Jasper will treat my best friend well so I guess I won't have the need to give him the "best friend talk".

I was bored out of my mind since I'm not really good at dancing so I rejected some people asking me if I can dance with them. I started walking aimlessly through the forest. My wolf seems to be pretty satisfied with our happy best friend, I know that I'll be pretty sad once she moves but that doesn't really mean that we won't see each other again.

The moon was big and bright tonight, it was as if the Moon Goddess herself was happy watching the people celebrating back in the garden. I started wondering when I'll find my mate, I know I just said I'm not in a rush but I still can't help thinking about the possibilities. Wondering if he's already been in love or if he might reject me once he sees how I'm not anything special. At the thought of that my wolf whimpered inside of me.

I must have been walking for a very long time now since I can no longer hear any music and people shouting and having fun. Instead all I could hear was crickets and the sound of a stream. There must be a waterfall somewhere near me, I thought. I started my way towards the sound of the falls and I reached it without trouble after about 5 minutes or so.

The water shined so brightly and it tempted me to take a swim but I know I wouldn't want to have to bother about a change of clothes and stuff, so instead I just decided to dip my feet in it. I looked up at the sky and saw how tons of stars are present tonight.

I've always loved the stars and moon, they keep me calm all the time. I mindlessly touch and play with the star and crescent moon necklace that my parents gave me for my 3rd birthday. I know they're always looking after me and I'm such a blessed person to ever have such loving parents. I started zoning out just thinking about my past that I didn't realize that something was moving in the bushes.
