Dear white people... you have something called white privilege.
No matter how much you deny it. Its there.
You are the norm on television, you have skin that is accepted as beautiful across the world. You are stereotyped as rich and educated.
White privilege is not a jacket that you can pull off, it is a skin that you wear. Something you were born into. You cannot change it.
The best you can do is to acknowledge it, and don't pretend like it is not there. Don't say that you "dont see color". Because, everyone (lol almost everyone) sees color.
I get it, you haven't seen it this way before, and that is okay. You live, you learn. Its nothing wrong with knowing you are more privileged than others. But, after you know this, use it to help others.
When a rich person notices poor people need help, should they say "I don't think poorer people need help! They just need to get a job/better job..."
Maybe. (But, its not that simple. We can get into that later if you have questions)
What they SHOULD say is, "I'm going to use my excess money to help poorer people do this..."
Be an ally.
Love, black people.
