"Would you like to come inside"?

He stared at me, taken aback by my offer. "If you do not mind" He said with a confused tone. I stepped aside to let him in, and I immediately regretted it. But what could I do now? Be like Oh never mind you have to leave. "I have one question, and I think I already know the answer but I want my worries to be confirmed because I can't live with doubt. Was it because of me.... That you left early"? He asked softly, as if he was afraid of my answer, even though he already knew. It felt like he was guilt tripping me and I was not about to just let that go. "Yes. It was because of you. And don't think you're off the hook because I have some questions for you, and you're sure as hell gonna answer them" I snapped, proud of my sudden boldness. Instead of instantly complying, a devious smirk appeared on his face and he looked like he was about to burst out laughing. I could feel my face burning red with embarrassment and anger "What?!" I yelled, trying to hold back my fist from connecting with his smug little face. "I-I'm sorry y-you're just so cute when you try to be demanding. I-I can't help it" He laughed, barely able to get his words out. I felt my cheeks flush even redder. He called me cute. I shook it off, just another attempt to try and get on my good side and make amends. "How do you know where I live"? I finally spat out the question that had been burning a hole in my mind since he showed up at my door. "Geez, calm down, I'm not a stalker. I got your homework and politely asked the main office if I could have your address so I could deliver you your missed schoolwork. Did you know that people are more likely to be nice and do things for you if you're nice to them?" He smirked at me. I just glared at him before looking through the black folder that caused this whole fiasco.

"Shit" I whispered, looking over my pre-calc homework. "What's wrong?" Himaru asked, his voice going from one of jokes to one of legitimate concern in a matter of seconds. "We must've started something new today in pre-calc because I have no idea what this shit is." I muttered, waving the paper around to emphasize how annoyed I was. "Let me help you! I'm in AP Calc right now so I did this stuff ages ago." He begged. He's definitely sucking up to me so I'll forgive him. "Why not? It won't hurt anything" I agreed. After over an hour of him patiently putting up with my idiocy I finally figured out what the hell I was doing. We flew through the worksheet and moved onto other assignments. The entire time there was a weird feeling lingering in my chest. I never hung out with people after school, and I had never connected with someone the way I had so quickly clicked with Himaru. Maybe I was willing to have a little selective amnesia over the cafeteria instance, if it meant making a friend. I would occasionally look up and find him staring at me. It was odd at first but I soon got used to it, after all he certainly was an odd kid. I'm checking my agenda book when suddenly Himaru yells out "Shoot"! The sudden noise startled me and I jumped. "I forgot about my Digital Photography assignment. We were supposed to take photos of someone in nature and I was going to photograph my sister but she'll have left for work already." Himaru hung his head. "An assignment? On your first day?" I questioned. "Bullshit, I know right, but it's whatever, I love photography. Maybe she'll let me off the hook since it was my first day" He shrugged. A sudden idea popped into my head and before I could think it through I just blurted out. "I mean, you could always take pictures of me. Just to... y'know get the assignment done" I realized how ludicrous the suggestion was as soon as it was out of my mouth. But Himaru didn't seem to think so. His eyes lit up and he squealed like a little girl "You'd do that for me y/n?" He asked. "Well you helped me so much today, it seems unfair to just let you fail an assignment" I answered. He whipped a very expensive looking digital camera out of his bag, grabbed my hand and started running out the door. "Let's shoot by those birch trees at the end of your street! Hurry! Before we lose all our sunlight" He yelled back to excitedly, racing down your street. His hand entwined with yours.

Himaru

She was heavenly.

And I wanted her.
