I sit alone at my locker, twelve minutes until school starts. I've already been here for twenty minutes. Everyone asks why I insist on being to school so early and honestly I don't know. It's always so quiet in the morning, I like seeing the school without all it's students. It's like seeing a person who lost their soul. Without warning the hairs on my arms stand up and I feel someone's gaze burning into me. I snap my head up from my phone, trying to catch who it was that was staring at me. But the only other people in the hall is a group of ninth graders quietly gossiping to themselves. Feeling a little unnerved I decide to pack up my things for class and head to my homeroom early. On my way up the stairs I get caught in a horde of seventh graders all pushing and shoving each other around to get up the stairs first. I curse at them and stumble into my classroom, breathing a sigh of relief. I look up and am surprised to see the classroom isn't empty like I thought, and that the one other person in the room happened to be sitting in my seat. He turns his head, startled by the sudden movement in the doorway and my breath catches in my throat. He was attractive to say the least. His dark chocolate hair perfectly framed his strong jaw, his cheekbones were well pronounced and he had an air of mystique surrounding him. But what really caught me off guard were his eyes. They were a fantastic emerald color that seemed to stare right into my soul. He looked me up and down and like the idiot I was I just stood there, unable to speak. Normally I would've snapped at the person who was sitting in my seat, would have told them to get up and find their own. But this boy seemed to take all the vile things out of my mouth leaving me with nothing to say except "Uh e-excuse me b-but you're i-in my seat". The boy's eyes filled with an emotion I didn't recognize, he stood up and said "Please excuse me, I just transferred here and didn't know." He went to get out of the seat when I blurted "No, it's quite alright you can stay there I'll find another seat." I went to move to a desk in the back of the classroom that I knew was unoccupied when I heard the boy say "Please do come sit next to me". I was filled with surprise, not quite sure how to react to such a friendly offer. I slowly sat down in the seat to the right of him, knowing I would regret this when the usual owner of the seat saw what I was doing. "M-my name's y/n" I stuttered, trying to break the painfully awkward silence. The boy continued to stare at me as he also introduced himself. "My name is Himaru, it's such a pleasure to meet you y/n"
I stuck out my hand for him to shake and to my complete and utter surprise he brought his lips to it, like some hero out of a play would do to his fair maiden. I felt my cheeks flush to a dark red hue and slowly pulled my hand back. "S-so Himaru, where are you transferring from?" I asked, wondering why I cared so much, normally I don't trouble people with my annoying small talk, mainly because most of the time they don't even listen. This caused his eyes to light up and he went into a detailed explanation about his old home back in Boston. My eyes grew wide as he told me about the city, I had always wanted to see a baseball game at Fenway. We had light conversation and I was surprised at my sudden ability to not be a bitch, usually I wasn't this friendly to people. I always felt bad after being snarky, but in this world it was the only way to make people leave you alone. For some reason I didn't want Himaru to leave me alone, it was an odd feeling for me. I was shaken by my thoughts by the sound of the bell, and within a few minutes the class began to file in. I immediately ducked my head down as I saw the usual occupant of the chair I was sitting in. I could feel her glare burning holes in my shirt and the sound of her heels click-clacking closer to me. "Move" She demands, her voice was so hostile it sent a chill down my back. I start to put my things away to move when the get pushed out of my hands and my stuff spills everywhere. "Now!" She yells.
I go to get out of her seat and clean up my stuff when a large, warm hand forcefully pushes me back into the chair "As you can see y/n has already claimed this seat and it is much less trouble for her if you just move to an unoccupied seat rather than cause all this nonsense" Himaru said, his voice laced with confidence. I looked up at him and realized just how tall he was. He towered over the blonde, and she was wearing at least six inch heels. He certainly could be demanding, and was obviously intimidating. The girl just huffed and flounced her way to the empty seat in the back of the room. "Th-thanks, I guess" I mumbled, reaching down to pick up my spilled papers. But Himaru slapped my hand away and started picking the mess up for me. I reached down to help pick up again when he snapped "No, I caused this mess by making you sit there, now I'm going to clean it up". I gulped at the iciness of his tone and sat back, awkwardly watching in silence so as to not anger another person within the span of five minutes. Just as Himaru was settling back into his seat our teacher, Mrs. Cerise walked in, signaling the start of class.
