"Alice," it was Melissa, my adopted mother. "There is someone at the door for you." She called. I looked quickly in the mirror, hair up, check, makeup finished, check, dress on, check. I bounded down the stairs and out the front door a quick wave accompanied by a "bye Mel" before I found myself hugging Jade. She laughed, "Hello to you too!" We walked down the street heading for the mall where we could spend anywhere up to a few hours browsing the many clothes shops for the perfect dresses for our annual school ball!
