                                                     The AnnualCrown

As of this day, the forty-sixth of the second month in the third year of King Ominous, to establish a country of justice and equality, the AnnualCrown is established forthwith. The authors and creators of this document shall be appointed as the first Lords, and King Ominous shall retain his kingship until what is here printed comes to pass.

To prevent revolutions, we hereby establish the AnnualCrown, to allow those of the lower and middle classes to rise to positions of power. Once yearly, a fencing tournament of gargantuan proportions shall be held in Raelis, the center and Capitol of this new realm of Frelpasd. All Lords and Ladies shall be required to enter, in order to retain their statuses of power, and any man or woman under the age of seven-and-fifty and above the age of ten-and-three may enter of their own free will. In this tournament, a series of one-on-one duels will be held, in which the winner shall advance to face a more skilled opponent whom has also passed through the same number of rounds, and the loser-if he or she still lives- shall return to their former rank and dwelling. When, at the end, only the one and final victor does remain, he or she shall receive a place in the ranks of the Lord or Lady and the King or Queen of the time shall choose whom out of the current Lords and Ladies they shall replace.

In an extension of this tournament, when the reigning monarch is released into the endless sleep of death, the Lords and Ladies shall have a showcase of strength in this manner, which shall determine the new monarch, and be called the ReigningCrown.

The rules shall be laid out in the fashion we deem necessary, and obeyed with no question.

1.      Killing shall not be necessary.

2.      If an opponent yields, that yield must be accepted, and not ignored.

3.      No treachery may be employed.

4.      Any weapons of the age may be gainfully employed

5.      No more than two weapons may be employed

6.      If member of the lower or middle class emerges victorious, their family shall remain in the position in which they began

7.      Said member of the lower or middle class may not show favoritism to said family by sending them gifts worthy of a Lord of Lady, or gracing them with their presence

8.      You may enter once in a lifetime; but no more
