He was careful, this time, not to make any foolishness when at work. The last time that happened, HQ was attacked by hordes of nightmares, and Jack was too late.

If only I paid more attention to the lights... He thought to himself.

Jack maneuvered gracefully through the air, spreading snow and making snowflakes with the essence of fun.

"Mommy, Daddy, it's Jack Frost!" Children shout as they point towards the boy's figure.

He loves that phrase. It signifies the fact that more and more children are starting to believe in him. He loves it so much that he knows that phrase in every language there is! (But only that phrase of course. He can't speak any language aside from English.) The beliefs of the children comfort him. It gives him a reason to smile, even at times of distress. He finishes the snow-giving-spree in Japan and tells the wind to send him towards Burgess. Oh how he loves that place! It was where they won the battle over Pitch. It was also where he gained his first believer.

Speaking of first believer...

He made his way through the streets until he came upon a very familiar lawn. Jack taps on the window of Jamie's home, a light coat of frost creeping from his finger, but no one answers.

That's weird...

Jamie usually answers to his tapping after an exited squeal. Jack peered into the bedroom to find that it looks nothing like the bedroom before. The walls were plastered with posters of rock bands and video games. The bed was a mess, and the floor was in an even worse condition, controllers and chips littering everywhere. His eyes travel back to the bed, seeing a slight movement. It was a teenager, no older than 16, probably. His hair was a mess and his torso was shirtless showing signs of muscles and faint abs. Jack frowns at this and decided to give a louder tap. The teen stirs, then after moments, he rises from the bed and opens his eyes, revealing familiar brown orbs. The brunette diverts his attention towards the window with irritation until his eyes met the pale blues of the sprite.

"Jack...?" The teen whispers. He hurriedly placed on a shirt and practically ran towards the window, unlocking it and letting the guardian in.

"What the hell...?" Jack mumbled to himself. How long was I gone? ,"Jamie?"

Jamie's eyes brighten before giving Jack a massive hug, "Jack! It's been so long!"

The poor guardian wheezes, "Yeah! I can see that!" He wheezes once more, "Jamie... Can't... Breathe!"

"Oh! Sorry..." Jamie lets go of Jack in an instant. But his excitement didn't waver, "Look at you! You haven't changed a bit!"

Jack gave a laugh, "Man, look at you, all grown up!" Jack floated towards him, "You're already as tall as me!"

Jamie chuckled in embarrassment, "Yeah, I kinda get that a lot." Then, Jamie's smile disappeared. "Jack, where have you been?"

Jack felt the pang of guilt as soon as Jamie asked, "I was... working." Jack looked at Jamie, "How long was I gone?"

"You were gone for 5 years counting from your last visit..."

Jack couldn't help but shout, "FIVE YEARS!" He wipes his face in disbelief. "THAT LONG!?" The guilt grew even more when he looked at Jamie's now teen-aged form. He sat on his staff, shaking his head at the fact that he wasn't there for his best friend for 5 years.

Jamie looked at his friend. The guardian was a mess of disbelief, so he went towards Jack and placed a hand on his friend's shoulder, "It's okay Jack. I understand how busy guardians can be."

Jack didn't meet his eyes, "Jamie, I am so, so sorry."

Jamie gave him a pat, "Don't worry about it, man. I'm cool."

A wave of relief washed over the winter sprite as his mischievous facade came back. "I still can't believe that you're almost taller than me." Jack looked at Jamie. "You used to ride on my shoulders!"

A pink blush appeared on the teens face, "Well, we all grow sometime... aside from guardians of course." He scratches his nape in embarrassment. Jamie looked at jack once more with a smile on his face, but then the flashing of lights diverted his attention. "Hey Jack, aren't you supposed to be going by now?"

Confusion crossed Jacks face, "Why? what's wrong...-" Jack followed the stare of Jamie and saw the Northern lights. "How long has it been there?"

"For a while i guess..."

The white -haired boy's eyes widened as he said his final goodbyes to Jamie before shooting out of the window.

Not again!
