— MITCH —
Saturday - 5:40pm. Shit, shit, shit. I raced around the house making sure I had everything I needed and I was looking my best. I grabbed the football from under my bed and walked out of my room to see Adam sitting on the couch, watching some tennis match that he would only watch when I'm not there as he knows I find tennis completely boring.
"Looking good Mitchy." He looked up at me and winked, before fixing his attention back on the TV. "Oh shut up." I told him but I must admit, compared to my usual get-up I was looking quite impressive.
"Where are you going?" Adam asked, his eyes not detaching from the screen. "Just going to see Georgia, the girl who came by a few days ago." I grabbed a drink of water before I headed to the door. "Oh a date, nice one. Good luck man." I said thanks to him and left before he could drill me anymore, but it was too late, "By the way, if things don't work out can ya' give me her number? She's hot." I threw a pillow at him, as hard as I could, because he deserved it for not only that comment but the shit he always gives me.
I walked along the beach, kicking the football to myself. I told her to meet me at the point of the beach, which is the opposite side of the boat ramp. It's a fair walk for me but only a few shacks down from Georgia. I knew she will be confused as to why we're meeting there. Beyond the point, there are no shack's, no boats and no one goes out there unless they are either brave, stupid or the water is dead flat. The water won't eat you up alive but it definitely is wilder than it is where the rest of the shacks are.
As I approached the point I saw Georgia standing faced to the water. I checked my phone and saw it was 6 o'clock, perfect timing. She was wearing denim shorts and a cute little lacey white top over her bikini. It was simple, but god she made it look great. I looked down at myself, feeling stupid, as I was definitely overdressed.
"Hey, stranger," I called out to her. She turned around, smiling but that soon faded. She looked up and down at me, and, then looked down at herself. "Oh, I'm sorry! Are we- wait do you want-" "No," She was already over thinking. I wouldn't classify myself as a gentlemen or romantic but I sure know that making your date feel bad on the first date is not the way to go. "You look amazing."
We began to walk further down the beach. "Are you any good at football?" She stopped walking to look at me as if I said something absurd. "Well, let's just say I'm even better at footy than I am at basketball." She grinned and flicked her hair back. "So not very good then," I smirked at her and she hit my arm. "Hey, watch it!" I called out jokingly. "You deserve it." She rolled her eyes and I couldn't argue with that.
"So tell me about yourself?" I asked Georgia as we continued to kick the ball back and forth between each other. She jogged after the ball, patting the sand off before holding it by her side to walk next to me. "There isn't much to tell really." I disagreed completely. "There must be something. What are your hobbies?" I asked and regretted it, boring question, Mitch. "I like to run," I went to ask another question but she continued, "I run anywhere. It makes me feel good, almost the best, a feeling I don't get all the time." She told me and in many ways, I could relate.
