Chapter 13

KEATON POV
I looked at her. She looked awful. It was so hard for me to look her in the eyes.
She shot up. I smiled as soon as she did so.
"Keaton!" She said almost in tears.
I walked over to her.
"Hey babe." I said giving her flowers.
When she was holding them, I saw her hands. And they were all torn up. I couldn't even look at her without getting teary eyed.
"Thanks Keaton. I'm so happy that you're here. Like, I've been waiting for you literally everyday." She said with the brightest smile ever.
Her mother -that I met earlier in the waiting room- got up and began to speak. "I'm going to let you both be alone to talk, I'll be in the waiting room."
She grabbed the flowers from Alexis and took them with her
I sat down in the seat her mom sat in.
"How are you doing?" I said holding her hand that wasn't hurt as bad as the other one.
She looked at me, and began to cry.
"I've been literally waiting for you this whole time I've been in the hospital. I just needed you here with me."
I looked down.
I began crying.
"I can't do this. I can't stand seeing you like this. You look like you're in so much pain. And I cannot do a single thing about it. I want to be able to protect you. Because you're my princess. You don't understand how bad this hurts me." I said looking at the ground and then back to her.
She was covering her mouth with her black burnt hands.
Tears started streamed down her face.
That hurt me even more.
"Keaton.." She said holding back the tears.
I got up and started walking in the room. "How am I supposed to act? Am I just supposed to sit here watch you cringe in pain?" I turned around.
"And just .. sit here doing nothing. Just watching." I went to her side.
"You mean the world to me Keaton." She grabbed my hand.
I got on my knees to be eye level. "You know I love you more than anything Alexis. From the first moment I looked at you I knew I wanted to be with you."
Around this time, it's a 3 weeks since she's been here at the hospital.
Alexis has really bad burns on her arms and her chest.
She ended up breaking a lot of bones from the accident she told me.
She told me everything that happened.
She said it was spots that hurt from when the car flipped over.
Alexis's main nurse would come in and let us know, how the man that saved her, was doing.
I guess he's getting worse and worse everyday.
They don't expect him to live more than a month.
Her parents come visit 2 hours a day.
Meanwhile she I'm here with her everyday.
She says she's getting better.
But I can see how much she is lying to make me feel okay.
Brooke is getting better also.
She is going to have to get surgery.
She has to get surgery on her arm, and she has to get graft.
Niall has been here with her since she got in the accident.
We found out the other day that Alexis has asthma.
Well, her mother knew, but didn't bother to tell the doctors until now.
"Keaton." Alexis said waking me up.
I shot up.
"I don't feel good. I'm having a real hard time breathing." She said holding her chest.
I ran out of the room, to get the nurse.
She was talking to someone, but I didn't care.
"My girlfriend is having a hard time breathing!" I said screaming at her. Accidental scaring her.
I lead her and about five other doctors and nurses to her room.
I tried staying in there with her but they said I had to leave.
I ran to the waiting room, where her mom was sitting.
"Jane," I said to her. "Alexis is having a really hard time breathing. And the doctors kicked me out of her room. I'm freaking out!" I said freaking out.
She stood up. "Keaton, everything will be okay. It's better that she has it here instead of at home.
We ended up talking a lot about Alexis.
"Mrs. Lyder?" Said a nurse walking up to us.
We both shot up.
"Yes? Is she alright?" Alexis's mom asked.
The nurse nodded. "She just had a very bad asthma attack. But we took care of it."
We both nodded. I was so relived that she was okay now.
"We moved her in a different room so it would be easier for us to watch over her. Would you care to come with me?" She nurse asked.
"Yeah, that would be great." I blurted out.
I heard running behind me.
"Hey, where are you guys going?" Said a guy that happened to know Alexis's mom.
"They moved Alexis to a different room, because she had a asthma attack." Her mom explained to the teen.
"I'm Ryan." He said walking next to me, holding out his hand.
"I'm Keaton." I said shaking his hand.
I looked at her mom in confusion.
"Keaton, this is Alexis's ex boyfriend. Ryan, this is Alexis's current boyfriend." She said introducing us to one another.
I did a fake smile. He did the same.
We arrived at her room.
She was asleep.
"Hey, do you want to come with me to grab her some flowers?" Ryan asked me.
"Sure." I said following him.
I ran into Wes, and Drew. And told them everything that had happened.
They said they would get her flowers after they were done eating.
Ryan and I bonded pretty well, when we were getting her flowers, and grabbing something to eat.
He told me a lot of things Alexis loves, and hates.
He was actually a pretty cool dude.
