Her breathing slowed down and she turned her head so her eyes could see me. Green, bright green that almost seemed to glow in the dim lighting. "Laughing Jack?" Struggling the small child push herself up so she was sitting, the black substance seem to vanish from the floor and had no smell. "How did you get in here?" She said her voice sounded like it was getting better the more she talked.
"I don't know I just did" I replied not willing to take the time to explain the powers. "Why are you on the floor?" I asked feeling a bit curious why she wasn't on the shabby bed.
"I don't know, I just am." She was mocking me. It amused me, clearly she's ill, but she still has energy and the mind set to make fun of me. My name preceded me, I laughed at her action he red messy hair fell in front of her face and she gave a small smile. It was week; she was a week and easy kill, but it was too easy. No satisfaction out of killing her so why not have a bit of amusement. I put my hand behind my back and squatted down next to her. I brought my hand back and a small red box with a crank on the side was sitting in my palm.
"Here" I said offering box to her. She raised an eyebrow at me and didn't move.
"What is it?" She said still not moving.
"A toy." I replied and reached out with my free hand to pull hers out and placed it in her hand. She finally took it and examined it in her hands. She didn't trust it. She was smart for a kid.
"It jumps out..." she said then her look when from me to the door. She was extremely pale almost white. "You gotta go" she said handing the box back to me. I look to the door quick footsteps echoed in the halls. I didn't take the box however instead I just vanish. I could watch without being seen. It was a man in a white coat. He open the door and called the girl.
"Come on 03, daily exercises." He said looking around the room. He notice the box but didn't say anything. She put it down and walked out, she wore a gray jumpsuit. I was weird that I just notice this, but it took a bit longer to have the number set in.
"03?" by the time I said it the two were gone. I was left in this dirty room with the box I left for her.
I had nothing to do that day and I stayed in that room for a good 4 hours. I had an odd feeling. One I haven't felt for a long time. I could not describe this feeling, as if I had locked the thoughts of it away many years ago, but it was familiar. My ageless life could not connect the feeling to it's profound name instead I started walk in that room. That child, what has become of her. What did those people do to their own kind. A click singled me to disappear. The man had came back with the girl in his arms. She didn't move at first glance, she was barely breathing.
With no sing of care as one would normally be addressed with such youth he dropped her on the old cot that made the bed and left the room, making sure to shut and lock the door. Once He was gone I pulled myself from under the bed and looked down at the child. Her hands were bloody and her knees were scrapped. She lied there face down in the dirty fabric. I leaned over moving her so she lied on her back. Her illness couldn't be doing her any good at this point. She look like she was running from the Slenderman. She frowned and crunched her face together as her body pulled itself into a ball facing me. Did I pity this child? Was that the reason why I stayed?
That's not right, I didn't pity her, I worried for this small human. My hands were wrapped in bandages, though they didn't need them. I knew it wasn't the cleanest but her knees were still bleeding. I took off the cloth bandage from my right hand and rubbed her head. She sniffed as tears stain her face. A action I normally craved but her eyes were dead. She looked like she just snapped, other then those tears there was no emotion.
"You have to sit up for a second." I said she didn't move. She stayed in a ball still. My hand reached under her arms and she jumped as if I was the cause of the pain. "You're just gonna have to trust me." I started, knowing full well that I was the last thing any human should trust. picking her up and putting her in the sitting position on the bed. She tried to wipe the tears away. As I wrapped the cloth around her knee, ripping it and tying it off. I repeated this for the other leg as she whimpered her hitching breath slowed down.
