iv. nutcracker- 12/20
This year, I watched The Nutcracker instead of performing in it. It was strange, sitting in a red plush chair instead of twirling on stage, watching another girl in a white tutu piqué through the dance of the sugar plum fairy. The performance was beautiful, but I found my limbs itching to join in. I haven’t danced much since first semester started.
Today, walking home from the last of my finals (it was for chemistry, which you’re good at but I’m not), I saw a ballet studio a few blocks down from Washington Square. They’re closed for the holidays, but I think next year I’ll pay them a visit. It might help to start dancing again. At least that would take one item off the list of things I miss.
My mittens still have a hole in them, so there’s always a patch of skin on my hand that feels like solid ice. I need to remember to buy a new pair. I also need to remember to give you a call. We haven’t spoken in a while.
