So I'm day two of my junior year and already I've had more excitement (or is that terror?) than any of my school years put together.
Lies, lies, lies. You're so in denial
I push those thoughts back. I can't deal with that, not right now.
Walking down the hall to my next class, maths, I'm a bit early as usual. Okay, okay, maybe I am a nerd.
As I start to turn the corner I hear voices and hang back. I don't know why, just some gut instinct stopped me from showing my presence. I started to eavesdrop (don't judge, anyone of you knows you've done it at one time or another). There's some guy speaking, and by the sounds of it he's pissed. He must be on the phone cause I can't hear anyone else speaking. Wait, Assron?"...the hell do you mean?!"
**********Pause**********
"Shit, okay man. You need to calm down, just fix it."
**********Pause**********
"I know but you know what he's like. I'll be there soon just keep her safe."
**********Pause**********
"Thanks man, seriously. I know, it won't happen, not again. Make sure though...yeah, yeah. Put her on the phone"
******Pause******
I hear a sigh and shifting."Hey sweety" his voice changes, softens.
"Yes I know, don't worry. I'll be there soon."
**********Pause**********
"No, no. Listen uncle Luke is gonna take good care of you, I'm just gonna go and talk to them."
*********pause**********
"Awh sweetheart don't worry I'll be fine, and Ill give you a big bear hug...yes, sure sunshine"
**********brief pause**********
I hear him chuckle softly"Okay we'll go get ice cream after. I have to go sweety, I'll see you soon."
**********Pause**********
"Love you too sis, bye bye"He must have hung up his phone. I hear a frustrated sigh come from him and a bang. Then, quickly I press myself into the shadowy stairwell behind me and stay hidden as he storms unaware past me, heading straight for the back doors.
Sis? What who's like? And what won't happen again? I look puzzled at where Aaron just was. Huh. It's weird, the school's badass player seemed...worried?
Not everyone is who they appear, you know that
Jesus when will you ever shut up?
I'm you genius, your thoughts?
Great now I'm arguing with my own brain. Ugh. I shake my head and continue on to class, noticing the big fist sized dent now in one of the lockers. So that was the bang.I actually make it to class just as some of the last students saunter in.
Now algebra, time to meet your maker.
......man I'm weird.Brrrrriiiiiiiiinnnnnnngggggg
I jump, well not really but you get the point, out of my seat and hurry to my locker, dumping my books and grabbing my gym bag and science books, shove them into my main bag and hurry to my car, meeting up with Nadine and Laura on the way.
"Hey Soph, sorry we were late. God my car is so-"
I cover Lauras mouth then quickly grab their hands and hurry them into my car.
"No time, apologies later, pizza hut awaits and I am not getting stuck in a long queue. Momma needs her cheesy goodness ASAP."
I say, completely serious as I drive like a woman on a mission. A four cheese, meat, tomato sauce and deep dough mission.
They stare at me shocked for a second then start laughing and nod in agreement.
Dino raised her hand and fist pumped out the window as we all declared the most honest words in the human language.
"THERE'S NOTHING BETTER BUT DELICIOUS PIZZA HUT!"And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you start lunch. I love these girls.
