Yet I Smile...

Tears break my heart,

And I’m torn apart.

Yet I smile on the outside.

I long to see his face,

And to feel his touch.

Yet I smile on the outside.

Life has become…

Lonely quiet and numb.

Yet I smile on the outside.

Missing the way he looked at me,

While knowing we could never be.

Yet I smile on the outside.

A frog clogs up my throat,

Tears threaten as I write this note.

And yet I smile on the outside.

Just wanting to know what will I gain?

When carrying this extraordinary pain.

Why do I smile on the outside?
