Chapter 1 ~ Fresh Pine

I woke up, startled by the sound of my alarm. I had a thing for pressing the snooze button over and over again. I groaned and turned to face my end table which held my alarm clock. I was about to press the snooze button again, but when I looked at the time, I practicly leaped out of bed and sprinted to the shower. "Harmony Rose Phillips! Hurry up or you're going to be late!" I heard my dad use my full name which meant he was going to leave me here and make me walk to school.

I didn't mind being late, but the principal had been getting on my back lately. " Yeah dad. I'm being as quick as I can." That was a lie I didn't have to tell.

I stepped out of the shower and threw on random clothes. I was very into fashion but I could really care less today. I ended up wearing black skinny jeans with a deep purple corset top with my leather jacket and tall boots.

Thanks to the wolfy side of me, sprinting in heeled boots, down the stairs and to a car without tripping wasn't a problem. I jumped up in the GMC, with my dad ready to drive off. "Good morning sweetheart. How are you this morning?" he asked in a sweet tone.

"Dad, I get that you're trying to be nice, but I could do less with that on the way school." My tone wasn't sweet, but it wasn't the worst tone I've used.

"Ok then. Well, tomorrow many other packs are coming to ours and hopefully will find their mates," he continued in the same tone.

"Why is this important to you?"

" Because your mom and I want you to find your mate to bring two packs together."

Since my dad was alpha of our pack, he was hoping for me to mate with an alpha of another pack to bring us together. I highly doubted that would happen.

We finally got to the school car park I flick my hair out of my face and I left my dad with a 'goodbye'. I could see my friend Alexis running up to me with her arms spread out ready to jump on me. "HARMONY!!!" she screamed. I stepped to my left at the last second to see her stumble over. I started to laugh and gave her a tight hug. " I missed you!" she said.

"Me too. How was your holiday in Ireland?"

" Meh. Same shit as everywhere else we went over the years. Old buildings, weird languages." And with that, she dramatically changed the subject. " Hey! there are new people coming to school this semester. I wanna meet them."

"Who the hell starts school in the middle of the year?" I said, what total idiots they missed out on half of the year.

" Whatever Harmony. Lets go to first period." First period turned out to be gym. Perfect. Just what I need to start the day.

I opened my locker and changed into my gym clothes. As I left, I could hear some gurls talking about a new guy who was apparently hot. I smiled to myself as I pulled my long, curly rown hair into a ponytail. Since the wolf school is co- ed, there were a mixture of new male and female scents in the gym. One in particular smelt wonderful, sending shivers through me. I brushed it off and the teacher made us run 20 laps around the basketball courts for a wam up. Alexis was running next to me, panting. She wasn't the best at gym.

I could smell the scent I smelt before catch up to me and I tried to out run it. I was litterally sprinting and weaving through everybody until I finished the warm up.

" Excited to start, are we Harmony?" the teacher said, obviously noticing I sprinted to the end.

" You could put it that way," I replied.

He got on with the class, talking about nonsense. But while he was doing that, it gave me a chance to look for the source of the scent that had my wolf go crazy. I found it. It was a new guy. He smelt of fresh pine. I must say, he did look delicious. He was packed with muscle all over his body. He had olive skin, his hair was dark brown, short and spike up at the front and blue eyes that I could get lost in. the bell rang which snapped me out of my trance and headed to the change rooms.

"Who was the hottie you were eyeing?" I found alexis next to me.

" No one. Why?"

" Don't give me that crap. I saw you staring at that hottie." sh giggled. I smiled to myself and headed off.
