Jonah's house was beautiful. I never knew he was rich. He showed us to Jessicas master bedroom first. As soon as you walked in, you could see the flat screen tv, a bunch of beanbags, a mini fridge, and the reclining bed. All of it was gold themed. Then I saw the cat. She was beautiful with Snow White fur and light blue eyes. "That's snowflake." Jonah said, and Jessica lost it. "OHHH MY GOD ITS A CAT!" She loves cats so much. It's funny, almost like an addiction.
"She stays in here so I think you'll enjoy yourself." He adds with a smirk. I just look at Jonah, noting everything mentally. He has brown straight hair, huge chocolate eyes, clear fair skin. He's tall and athletic built, and his teeth were bright and straight. I roll my eyes and start looking around the room.
The huge bathroom has its own walk in closet, a bath tub, a massage chair, a 3-setting shower, and a heated toilet. I wonder how his family got so much money that he could get all this. In the main room, there's another walk in closet already filled with clothes, an angle mirror, a huge light up vanity and flowing gold curtains.
Jessica scoops up the cat, unloads her food into the mini fridge, spreads her blanket, and get comfy on the queen size bed.
We move on to my room. The first thing you notice is the deep blue covering the walls. Absolutely beautiful. Everything in the room is dark blue and white. So I excitedly start looking around.
I also have a mini fridge and a light up vanity. My walk in closet is full of clothes of different sizes. There's a weight machine in the corner of the main room. In another corner it's almost like a small library, with comfy beanbags and 3 shelves of books and lamps and blankets. I would love that. My bathroom is the exact same as Jessica's, only different colors. I sit on the bed and instantly fall in love. It's so soft with memory foam and what seems like millions of pillows. I get a remote that controls the lighting and one that controls the tv.
As he starts to leave, he turns around and says, "You know, you have really pretty eyes." smiles, and leaves. I shake of what he said and try the workout machine. Jessica comes in with cat hair all over her and looks at my books.
"Ooh, this is a good one." She whispers, and pulls "Wonder" from the top shelf. She gets comfortable in a beanbag and and starts reading. After thirty minutes, I'm done lifting weights and I go to my closet to find something. I put on a T shirt dress and spandex under it. I let my hair down and lay on the bed. I eventually fall asleep for maybe 3 hours, until Jessica jumps on me and says we can eat. I go down to the kitchen behind Jessica and I'm surprised at how good it smells. Confused, I sit down and see what he's made. There were bread rolls with butter, a casserole, and chicken soup. I'm the first one done. "Didn't know you could cook." I say sarcastically. "There's a lot about me you don't know yet." He answered and I roll my eyes. But there's something about him...

We all shower and change into pajamas and I turn on Netflix and get in bed. It's almost 11 when I hear a scream. I spring up and run to Jessica's room. She's breathing hard in her bed, crying. I don't hesitate to hug her. Then Jonah is in there. "What happened?!" He asks breathlessly. "I-I had a nightmare." Jessica whispers. She's shaking. "I dreamed that I was at home with my family and there was a knock on the door and when my mom opened it Ben shot her." She starts sobbing. I knew Jessica's worst fear was something happening to her mom. Jonah ran and got her Snowflake to make her happy and it worked. I stayed in her room the rest of the night.
In the morning Jonah pulls me outside while Jessica's still asleep. We go to my room and I sit on a beanbag and he stays standing up, pacing.
"Will we ever say goodbye to our parents?" I talk softly. I cannot talk about death. And me and Jessica will probably die before we ever see our families. She has two brothers and a mom and a dad. I have one sister with mom and dad. The thought of death gives me anxiety, as I'm a Christian, but I'm still scared out of my mind that it won't be like I thought.
"I don't know if you can ever go home, but I promise I'll protect you." He answers, and honestly, I do feel safe around him. He's strong and wouldn't hurt me.
"I'll keep you both safe. And maybe you're not ready to hear this right now, but I'm teaching you guys how to fight."
"Fight??" I blurted. "First off, how do you know how to fight, and second, will I be fighting anyone?"
His voice is calm and assuring. "If anything happens to me I want you to be able to defend yourself. Also, it won't hurt to be prepared, and my parents taught me self defense. You need to live. For them. The ones who fell."
We stared at each other for a few seconds, then slowly, he kissed me. It was soft and warm. With the sunrise's rays coming through my window, we kissed.
