Alex's POV:
It was a normal every day, kind of day. Getting up in a apartment, thinking what to have for breakfast. When I looked at myself, in the bathroom mirror, I thought how crazy my life would be if I still hung out with Grace and Brooklyn. The last day I remember with them was high school graduation. We were standing together, having my dad take a picture of us with our caps and gowns on. We were so happy we graduated high school that day, we felt like true adults. Summer went by so fast we never saw each other. We all went to different colleges, Brooklyn off to Michigan hoping to get a doctors degree. Grace didn't get accepted anywhere, so she stayed home and got a job as a photographer, and I well I pursed my dreams of becoming a violinist and headed off to the school of Juilliard. When me and Brooklyn started school we met new people and never really got around to seeing each other again. Grace and I saw each other for a few days when I came back home for Christmas break, but never again. Afterward the three best friends, us, never saw or talked to each other again. I didn't get over it until the last few months. I still see Grace around, but all we say to each other is "Hi". I can tell Grace never got over it. She always seems so sad whenever I see her at home for winter breaks.. As I was thinking this I realized I had brushed my hair about 100 times and it was as straight as ever. My long red locks were always tangled, so that helped get those tangles out. I stared at myself in the mirror thinking how pretty I was, with my light brown eyes, a million freckles, and of course my long shiny red hair. I then fixed myself up, putting on mascara and applying my favorite lipstick, petal, a light pink, perfect for my pale skin. I put my hair in a silky ponytail and headed to my closet to pick out a nice outfit. For the day, I chose a peach sweater with some white jeans. I put on my favorite wedge boots, for the start of fall. To add to it, I put on a diamond necklace and the matching set of earrings. I felt nice and fancy...
I headed out to go buy myself a nice, refreshing cup of coffee. I stopped in front of the lobby desk and asked the woman, behind the counter where the best place to buy some coffee was. She recommended Harry's, the local coffee shop. Since I was new to the humongous town of New York, I didn't know where to get some coffee. I was renting an apartment until I could afford a house. I thanked her and walked out to the parking lot, where my car was. I loved the light blue Volkswagen I owned. It stood out in the crowd of black and white Toyotas. I still remember the day my parents placed a huge red bow on top of it and gave it to me as my Christmas present. My little sister was so jealous, she nearly ripped my parents heads off. Oh, the days. I opened the door to the car, and a huge breeze came out of nowhere and almost knocked me down. I took my balance and headed to Harry's.
When I walked inside, it was like I was entering the 1950's. Women were wearing poodle skirts and matching pink roller skates. In the back corner there was a jukebox that only cost 5 cents per song. It felt so relaxing to hear the good music of Elvis Presley. There was a bar in the back corner to talk and hang out with you friends, while drinking Harry's signature coffee. Around the shop, there was big leather booths to sit and drink coffee in. There was only one booth open. I decided to go sit down in it. A pretty girl, a little clumsy on the roller skates, came up to my booth. She asked what I wanted to drink. I said I didn't know. The girl automatically thought I wasn't new, just a daily customer. She then, handed me a menu. I looked over it very fast, and asked for a cocoa latte with extra foam. The girl took my menu and very slowly head to the bar to make it. As she was making it I looked around the shop a little more. It was full of paintings expired by the 1950's. It made the shop feel more at home. I noticed that a lot of people liked this place. Every little nook and cranny was full of people, mainly girls, girls that had friends. It made me feel lonely, but I knew I didn't need to have friends to have a good life. The girl brought me my latte a few seconds later. I could see why this place was so popular. The coffee was so good. It tasted like a unicorn jumping on a rainbow. So good...
So far this day was beginning to be a good one.
