After finally finishing up in her dorm echo decided to go out and tour campus. Most other kids were either still in there dorms, visiting other kids in their dorms, or were just hanging out in the hallways just loitering about.
She had changed out of her normal school clothes and into something a bit more liberating. Cut off Jean shorts that were border line to short, and a plain gray hoodie. Her frizzy curly hair was down and free, framing her face. The gray of her hoodie made her violet eyes pop. She headed outside to where before she had spotted a nice big oak tree that she had spotted at lunch  one she could sit in and read, overlooking cute couples parusing through campus. Something her heart everlonged for, not once had she been in a relationship where someone she loved, loved her back. Its not like she had never liked anyone before believe me she had, and there were plenty of suitors available for her but she just couldn't force herself to like them back. No matter how desperately she tried or to what measure she just couldn't. All the guys she had ever liked had always looked at her as the supportive friend, or not even looked at her at all. One boy who she had hopelessly fallen for, would only talk about how much he crushed on this other girl, and echo was only seen as the sister like friend.
This year she vowed this year is gonna be different I'm going to get a boyfriend, I'm going to have my first kiss and I am going to be happy. Although things weren't off to a great start. She had yet to meet a person at this school who seemed remotely interested...well maybe except that Felix boy. But that's how all those random crushes go, it seems like a cute guy is making eyes at you one day, you become obsessed the rest of the year, without even speaking to him, not once, he even dates other girls but your still right there just in case.
Echo kept strolling head down, the sweet breeze brushing across her face. She had managed to get herself lost admits all this thought, so much so that her tree was no where in sight. Collapsing to the ground in the grassy plain that surrounded the school she sat and wondered. Gazing up at the clouds she almost fell asleep, when the sweetest of noises hit her ear. The strum of a ukulele near by, and a voice sang perfectly in tune along. Letting the song carry her echo wondered off towards the source of the noise.
For sometime she walked and as she did the noise grew louder and louder, Until she realized it was coming from a tree, her tree. she could finally faintly hear the words drifting to her easrs.
" at least I avoided cle'shea, holding no body's hand along the shaun al zay."
Echo saw a tuff of blonde hair poking out from behind the branches. Could it be the boy from the cafeteria? Her heart pumped a little faster. She approached slowly as if not to scare off an wild  animal.
He sang on.
" taking my time, breaking bread sipping wine, meant for two."
He was on the tree facing the opposite way, echo couldnt make out his face from where she stood even so close. She was drawn closer by a mixture of curiosity and the alluring sound. No one else seemed to be out at all except him.
" its a beautiful city for saps, but turn out the lights were to clever for that."
She could see his face now, disappointed she gave out a noiseless sigh. What were the chances of this being...him. Still she studied the boys face as he played peacefully on the branch. Smiling to only himself, lost in thought. He was not nearly as handsome as the other boy. Still he had blonde spikey hair and striking blue eyes. Thin as a rail, though  even from where she could see, he was stretched out and lengthy with a button nose centering his face. As he starred into no where, echo couldn't help but wonder who his song was for.
" and I know, ah aha I know were not in love but wed fool this old town. With the veiw of us, thoughts from the tourist alooooone."
Crack
A twig snapped under a purple converse. The boy jumped out of his skin, and out of the tree. He landed hard on a root. Echo dove as she watched his ukulele fall from the tree, just before it hit the ground she snatched it up.
" oh gosh I'm so sorry, i I didn't mean to bother you I was just passing bye." Echo gushed apologetically.
The boy froze and simply looked at echo and took fast breaths. When he said nothing she positioned the stringed instrument.
" I play the uke too. Not really as good as you are but I'm alright." She strummed lightly, and lovely notes came from the ukulele.
" that's better then just all right if you ask me." The boy said still sprawled across the ground. Noticing this echo took a hand and out reached it.
" India echo Jones." She said as he took her palm and pulled himself up.
" Jon, Jon Cozart."
By the way he spoke she could see him being gay but it wasn't that prominent.
" well...Jon I'm gonna have to ask you to leave the premises. I have had my eye on this tree all day and by the law of dibs its my property. So I'm gonna have to ask you to exit." She said face stern, but every muscle in her body wanting to make her smile. She climbed up to a thicker branch. Jon caught on and smirked a little.
" well if the 337th dubious amendment means anything to the likes of you, then you would well know that unless verbal dibs is passed then first come first serve." Jon said as he climbed up to the same branch. They laughed for awhile, but soon came to a silence of all but the light strummings of lullabies from the ukulele.
" well then we should have met each other sooner." Echo said as she listened to him strum softly.
" agreed."
