It was a long cramped elevator ride but echo finally emerged from the sweaty death trap and stood upon the 5th floor of the dormitory's. The 5th floor was the only floor populated.
To the right were the boys hall and to the left was the girls, ( guards stood post at all hours along the hallways so no risky business took place.)
Echo mouthed 513 the number scribbled down on her hand. Low and behold 13 doors down to the left was a plain brown door, and two silver plates written on them. One was completely blank while the other read 513.
Echo took a deep breath before entering she never knew what to expect with this school.
She found herself in a tiny plain room, practically overflowing with boxes of what she had bought down at the school supplies store.
Must have been brought up during lunch she thought. The room was small. So small that her twin bed maybe had five feet to the other side of it, and that was it. There were no closets but some drawers underneath her bed. Two doors were on the wall. One she opened and found nothing but a basic bathroom which by the the joint door she could see she shared with someone else, then in the other she found a dark space almost as big as her actual room itself. The walls were padded with a black spongy material from all angels, but that's all there was this addition that took up her libbing space that was completely empty.
Echo got right to work, first she dug out from the boxes all the green screens, tri pod, camera, laptop, and all the filming supplies in the padded room. She dug around in her bag from home.
"Aha!" She said as she pulled out several cans of lavender and sky blue spray paint.  "knew this might come in handy. "  seemingly careless she spun and twirled around painting every last inch of the walls, except the wall closest to her bed, that she plastered the sunset wallpaper to. Coughing from the fumes of the still wet spray paint, she then  pulled out her bedding which was blue with large hibiscus flowers sewn on, and of course her stuffed dragon Kurt. Her ukulele rest on the window will which over looked a miles and miles of field. She had just begun to fold and put away her clothes when her door shot open.
Mikey with a broad smile came in, her smile faded as she took several breaths.
" oh my god? Inhalinets on your first day? In your dorm too?" Mikey coughed.
" what!? No I'm not a druggy. I just painted the walls with some stuff I had left over." Echo said shrugging.
" oooooohhh..." Mikey said. " hey what's this?" She picked up a sharks jaw from one of the boxes and pricked her self on one of its teeth. " youch that bites."
" its a sharks jaw from my dad." Echo was becoming slightly annoyed now. " how did you know this was my room anyway?"
" I'm rooming across the hall thought I'd say hi to my neighbour."
" but what if it wasn't me and like... Who ever it was wouldn't be cool with you just coming in."
" well its not someone else its you." Mikey said as if it was obvious. She picked up the ukulele and began to strum vigorously. Echo still looked perplexed.
" but..that still doesn't ... Explain....ugh Mikey u truly are a puzzle."
Mikey ignored this comment and kept strumming. Then as if struck by lightning she ran out of the room.
Echo sat there dumfounded for a moment. Then with a flash of pale skin Mikey was back holding several plastic grocery bags.
" that reminded me I have these for you. Its cosmetics that I didn't like, thought you should have em."
" why thank you." Echo took the bag, still trying to figure put if there was a back handed compliment in there. She dumped out the powders and brushes and viles into a drawer.
" your the best Mikey." She said genienlly.
" speaking of which, couple of us from lunch are hanging out in Sean's dorm after dinner you wanna come."
" we weren't really talking about....OK yay that sounds fun, just give me a minute to get settled and let the paint dry. Literally."
" great! See you after dinner." And with that she was off.
