AN Taylor was never famous. She never pursued music and no one knows who she is. Karlie was still a VS model, but nowhere near as famous as she is now. Their paths cross once...
-Taylor was normal. She was a quiet woman who was anxious in social situations. She had a husband and no children. Her job was in accountancy. Her husbands job was in accountancy. Sometimes she discussed numbers over dinner with him. And as he would put it, Taylor was his "Normal everyday gal."
Her white Louboutin heels clicked loudly against the pavement as she rushed to catch her train. A phone call at a cafe left her unaware of the time, and she was running five minutes late. Thankfully the train had not left the station and stood proudly in place. It was a long journey to where Taylor was headed. She found a booth of her own and settled into her seat. It wasn't long before she could hear the train begin to fill with noisy strangers and curious children. Taylor dug out a book from her purse, hoping to appear too invested in reading and deter any means of conversation. A few minutes passed and the train was soon full of chatty passengers. Taylor's booth remained secluded to herself and she was quite happy about it. This usually never happened. But just as she was about to thank the gods, another blonde woman sailed her way down to Taylor's booth and clambered down in front of her.
Now this woman was tall. Almost too tall. She even appeared to awkwardly stoop a little as she walked, seemingly relieved to finally sit down and stop ducking her head. Taylor only glanced at her briefly. She hated interaction. Taylor was not good at social situations. Or talking. Or just being a communicative person in general.
This woman, however, this tall picture of a woman looked quite the opposite. Her hair was a little longer than Taylor's, who constantly kept it in a secure bun. Taylor wore a plum coloured pencil skirt and white blouse. It was business like and smart. This woman in front of her wore baggy blue jeans and a tight black mini sweater. A brownish coat was hastily removed from her shoulders and she set it down beside her. Now Taylor - being the awkward individual that she was - was very intrigued by this girl and tried her best to sneak a few glances beyond her book. Her timing was atrocious and it wasn't long before blue eyes fell across green. The woman in front of her smiled.
Now this was no ordinary smile. This was a special kind of smile. It wasn't the sort of smile you'd usually get from a train passenger. Or any stranger on any means of transportation for that matter. No, this smile was different. It was genuine. Lines that weren't there before crinkled around the woman's eyes. Her pearly teeth shone and she spoke for the first time.
"Hey!"
Taylor was startled by the enthusiasm in the woman's tone. What was she so smiley and sunshiny about? Her face was practically glowing with energy and positivity and it made Taylor ever more self conscious. The woman in front of her didn't lose her cheerful demeanour and continued to smile in Taylor's direction, probably hoping for a reaction. Taylor's mind rambled with thoughts of what to reply with. She suddenly couldn't even remember what the woman had said. Had she asked for something? A name? Taylor's heart screamed at her to say something– anything before it burst.
"Taylor."
The woman in front of her lost her radiant smile for just a split second. She then raised a finely kept eyebrow and chuckled, "What?"
A surge of embarrassment plunged through Taylor's system. Of course she didn't ask for her name! What kind of a stranger asks for a persons name first off? Taylor cursed herself for being so awkward.
"Sorry, what did you say?" she asked. And of course, the anxiety that was devouring her soul in that moment screeched at her for making things worse.
