Y/N pov
We met up in the hallway at lunch. I walked outside with Grian. I barely knew him but I felt I could trust him. I didn't know why but part of me wanted to tell him everything, all the tragedies, all the pain, all the sorrow and my last few happy memories with each of them. That's how it is for me - it's all or nothing. I felt like I knew him but I knew that I didn't.
"So...." tears welled up in my eyes, blurring my vision just at the thought of talking about it.
"You don't have to tell me if its going to upset you" he reassured me.
"It's fine...it's just that when I talk about myself it makes me think of my family.."
"Well family is great, what's so bad about thinking of them? Do you miss them since you moved Y/N?" he questioned.
"Well I miss them but not just since I moved....I missed them since they passed....each and every one of them dying one by one, and I was by their side every time..." I kept stopping to dry my eyes between sentences.
"Oh..." Grian put one arm around me, "It will be ok in the end... Don't you have other family members too? Surely you must have someone"
"No...my uncle just died and he was the last one...that's how I got my house... I still have my grandparents left but I never met then, I never want too."
"Why not?"
"When my dad and uncle were little, just 7 and 9 years old, they abandoned them....tied my dad and uncle's ankles together and left them in a sleeping bag in an alleyway....my mom's parents took care of them but they were never classed as any type of brothers to my mom and that's how my parents met..."
Grian said nothing, he just hugged me.
"Umm..." I felt awkward since we had only just met.
"I'm sorry Y/N, I guess I need to learn some self control."
"No, no. Its ok really... I remember somebody who was my friend once...he used to hug me all the time when I was younger...I went to stay with my uncle lots back then..." my mind was starting to overflow with memories i forgot I had.
"That's weird...I remember I used to spend lots of holidays here in this town when I was a kid.. I remember I used to be friends like that with a girl....what was her name?...I honestly can't remember..." There was something odd about our matched memories but neither of us noticed at the time. We decided we should probably go inside to eat incase anyone was worried about us being gone so long.Grian pov
I wiped the final tears from Y/N's eyes and we headed for the door to go back inside. We were just walking past the well when Y/N noticed something shining on the floor on the path beyond some downward steps. She walked toward the steps to see what it was, it glinted silver in the light. She reached the steps. One moment she was walking then suddenly I heard an earsplitting shriek as Y/N fell through the air, hitting hard, cold concrete. She had cut herself on a sharp rock too. Blood poured out of her leg at a steady pace, pooling on the ground below. Suddenly, people were flooding outside to see where the scream came from. People saw a girl bleeding in the ground, not moving. The other thing they saw was me.
"You pushed her?!" "Grian how could you?!" "I trusted you!!" "Im getting a teacher!" were the only things I could manage to hear from the havoc of the crowd. I guessed chan must have been the one who said she was getting a teacher because I saw her run inside and no more than 30 seconds later she ran back out with Miss Okami and Gym Teacher Rowan.
"Grian did it!" "Dont trust him miss!" "he was the only one with her when it happened!" the students screeched at the teachers.
"SHUT UP MAGGOTS!!!" Rowan yelled. Silence fell over the school.
"She'll be ok, but we need an ambulance - and quickly." Instructed Okami. She was calm in saying this, rowan dialed the phone.
"Grian I need you to tell me what happened" miss Okami said sternly.
"I swear she just fell! Ask her if you dont trust me" they did try asking Y/N but when she tried to speak, it looked like it was putting her through a great amount of pain, so I told her to stop. The ambulance arrived to take her to hospital and when they said she couldn't go alone and she had no family to be with her, I asked if I could go.
"Of course Grian, I trusts your words." Okami said.
As they carried her on a stretcher into the ambulance, I took one last look over my shoulder at what she had been trying to retrieve. It was a small necklace with a sliver chain. It had only one charm; a large indigo heart-shaped diamond was held by a silver casing to match the shape of the heart. I felt like I had seen it somewhere before. Before the doors of the vehicle closed to take her and I to the hospital, Y/N was able to squeeze out two final words.
"My.....Locket....."
