Its not fun being in a mediocre state of being; waking up, going to eat, going to the courtyard, then to roll call, and finally to bed. Prison is truly like they say - its hell - especially when you've grown accustomed to action, and the adrenaline running through your veins, the wind in your hair when chasing a suspect to a giant drug gang down the street. It all went away so fast, in a blink of an eye I was thrown in here without a trial, just locked me up and left me to die.

You'd think that by now I would have planned a very elaborate escape plan, since I am a vigilante - it's my specialty - no, I'd rather sit here in my dark, damp cell and show all of you how all of this came to be, and yes, fourth-wall breaks are coming, just so all of you readers know. As of right now, I'm sitting in my cell with a crappy pencil and a piece of paper I had to specially request from Warden Asshole down the hallway - no that isn't his name, he just doesn't like me since I broke his cousins nose a few years back- Ironic isn't it, I'm at the end of my line and I'm going to the very beginning to just drag you through a very hard, and confusing time just to come back here to this point in time.

Now its 2016 and I'm 16 years old in a maximum security prison...on an island I  the middle of the ocean. I've been in this hell-hole for about 10 months already and I have a couple more life sentences to go. Lets take this back to 2014 when I was a fat, lazy, 250 pound blob of blubber sitting on the couch eating nachos and watching cartoons - the Power Puff girls were the best-

                                                                                       2 YEARS EARLIER

-2014-

" ugh, I hate these infomercials so much bro" I said as I was slopped down on the couch with a big bowl of nachos.

It was late, my mom had just fell asleep and It was storming. Something about staying up during a storm was calming to me - loving the sounds of rain tap on the window and then run down the glass as if it was crying. I had just gotten a job at the local theater, the only reason I got it was because my friend, Dom, was filling out an application at school during free period, and because the thought of working in an environment that spelled like buttered popcorn all the time was appealing to me.

"Jordan, you have GOT to stop being like this, you're gonna have a heart attack and that shouldn't happen in a 14 year old" Dom sternly expressed as he came from the kitchen after grabbing a water -

As I sat there grossly I knew what my problem was, I just didn't want to face it, and lets be honest - junk food is truly amazing- but maybe not for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

I hear the front door open and a loud crack of lighting from outside.

"who's that" Dom said as he seemed worried who could be coming in this late at night.

"that's just my brother coming from work" - my brother, Kevin, a big giant guy, more muscle than fat but he still gets to play off that little bit of muffin-top he has. Did I mention he's a cop

"Hey Jordan, Dom, how's the T.V. working? It's storming like crazy out there!" he said with an exciting tone.

"why are you so bright tonight Kev? And the T.V. is working great, had a few cut offs here and there but its doing good." I said as I adjusted my position on the couch to face him.

"Yeah Kevin, you are acting a little bubbly, did something happen at work? Did you finally find your soul mate?" Dom chuckled, he always made fun of Kevin's relationships since they all ended in disaster. I've always felt bad for my brother, he tries to be happy but he rushes into relationships like a kid seeing a candy shop. This last girl he was with tried to max out all his credit cards, when he finally told her to stop she broke up with him, and he really was broke but he managed to get over it.

"No smartass, I didn't find my soulmate, BUT I did get into the homicide division."

Now Kevin has been trying to get there for a very long time. "Dude, that's awesome!" I told him as he disappeared into the kitchen. "Hey guys, you should try and get some sleep, it's late and you guys have school tomorrow." Kevin has always been the watchful type, he's always looking out for me and my friends and making sure we don't get into trouble.

The next morning came fast as I slugged myself out of bed, Dom woke up very excited. "why is everyone so excited lately? what's wrong with you?" I yelled from my room to the bathroom. "Dude, don't you remember? today is our STARR test!" he babbled with a toothbrush in his mouth.

"Oh how could I forget" I whispered to myself in sadness. The STARR is the absolute worst thing that God could have ever created. 5 hours of sitting on your ass writing and bubbling in answers in complete silence with a crappy lunch. We got to school and  went to our testing rooms, surprisingly every year we have had the STARR test in the same room together.

"Hey guys look! Lard-ass can barely fit in one hallway!" someone laughed as they pointed at me walking down the hall

"Don't listen to them Jordan, they are just  being assholes" Dom reassured me. "Do you think I could go one whole day without being the laughing stock of school?" I asked openly. "YES you can J! look, hows about after work tomorrow we hit the gym? I have a membership and I can take someone for free."

"yeah I guess man, sounds good" I slightly formed a smile as I sat in my desk. I thought to myself - tomorrow is gonna suck -
