It's just a game!

I sat on my bed, staring at the game lying on my lap. I had pulled it from its hiding place that was safe from my mom's vision and contemplated playing it again. Games were banned everywhere and enforcement on that rule made them so scarce, many people don't know what they are. The many that used to exist would deprived students of much needed sleep, keeping them awake during the sleeping day. But this game was different.

I put the game into the console and carefully put the headset on, plugging it into the cartridge, starting the game.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The world was as I had left it, the only difference was the amount of animals on the planet I had created. On it lied far more animals than before, all in heaps of pain as they yearned for food or struggled to escape a stomach where their body was being digested.

"Why are they still alive? Why didn't they, die?" I asked the oblivion.

The life on the planet stopped moving, the organisms suffering stopped and they all perished.

"That was depressing" an unknown voice sighed.

"Who's there?!" I said with an anxious tone.

"🗅🗆🗇🗋🗌," the voice replied calmly, "you?"

There was an awkward silence between me and the constantly changing darkness.

"I'm... I'm Alex." I mumbled, frightened by the stranger's presence, "Your name, how do you pronounce it?"

The silence once again appeared, this time in was more dreadful. Did I say something wrong?

"🗅🗆🗇🗋🗌... that has been forgotten. Nothing can change it. Tell me, do you remember 🗌🗍ႍ𐲡𐳡, 🗌𐲡𐳡 , or 🗅🗆🗇🗋🗌🗍ႍ𐲡𐳡?" the voice, though calm, had a desperate undertone to it now.

"I'm afraid I don't... um, why are you here? Are, are you an NPC? A guide to this game's purposes?" I asked more confused than I was initially and a bit scared.

I searched the sky for the voice, but to no avail. As soon as I think about them, clouds appear.

"hm... None of those. If this world is a game I am a glitch. I was supposed to have died long ago with my brothers and sisters, but that has seemed to have failed..." She sighs after mumbling something to herself.

"Where are you?"

"Behind you."

Her words struck fear in my heart, my body freezing in place for a few moments before my head turned to the voice.

Her hair is a mix of black and white as is her clothing. Her skin and eyes also portray the two conflicting colors.Other pigments were also visible, different variations of red, orange, yellow, green, and blue danced about her body. She looks beautiful and perfectly balanced with all of the hues. Her expression shows kindness and hatred all at once, her posture hinting at both self-preservation and sacrifice.

"So Alex, what are you going to do with this world? Nurture it? Raise it?" The woman's voice grew hateful and quiet, "toy with it? Destroy it?"

"I... I don't..." I struggled to find words.
