Chapter One -

~

“Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them.”
― William Shakesphere. Twelfth Night

My eyes were glued to the computer screen, I'm tried my hardest not to become flustered from all that is happening. I quickly started to type in mathematical equations to try figure out how to stop the tesseract from blowing up the SHIELD's base. The computer started to beep telling me that I cannot do that, I slammed my fist on the keyboards and let out a frustrated groan.

"Elle, my dear, don't beat yourself up. No one is able to stop this tesseract." said Doctor Erik Selvig as he patted my shoulder.

I looked at my mentor and sighed, "I can do this though. I went to Harvard at the age thirteen, I have studied gamma radiation since I was fifteen. The amount of radiation coming off from the tesseract is high. I might not know as much as some, but I should be able to stop it from acting up like this!"

Erik looked at me with sympathy, "You can do many fabulous things Elle, we are evacuating the base. No one can do anything now."

Director Nick Fury entered the room, "Doctor, Agent Elle, Is there anything we know for sure?"

"The tesseract is misbehaving." answered Erik.

"Is that suppose to be funny?"

"No not at all, sir." I answered for Erik, "The tesseract is not only active, she is behaving."

"How soon till you pull the plug?" asked Fury.

"She's an energy source," explained Erik as he walked over to the computer., "You turn off the power, she turns it back on. If she reached peak level..."

Fury cut Erik off, "Are you prepared for this doctor, harnessing energy from space?"

"Our calculations are far from complete. She's throwing off interference, radiation. Nothing harmful though, just some gamma radiation."

"That can be harmful." said Fury, knowing he was talking about Bruce Banner also known as The Hulk. He suddenly changed the subject, "Where's Agent Barton?"

"The Hawk?" asked Erik pointing backwards, "Up in his nest as usual."

Agent Barton was a good friend of mine. Clint and Natasha taught me everything that I need to know about being one of SHIELD's assassins. My older sister, Maria Hill, was too busy to train me so the two took me in. Those were some good years.

I snapped back into reality to find that Agent Barton came down and was currently talking to Director Fury.

"Doctor," said one of the female scientist, "She is spiking again."

I groaned and Erik and I walked over to the computer to see what the women was talking about. The tesseract was spiking, a lot. I looked over at Erik, his face read the same thing I was thinking.

Suddenly, the tesseract was acting in a way no one has seen it done, it was giving off blue jolts of electricity and began to shake the building. I ran over to Clint, just when the tesseract shot off a blue ray opening a portal, well at least that's what it looks like. The portal suddenly blue towards us, knocking me into Clint, the blue material started to form at the ceiling.

I looked over to where the portal was formed, I saw a man. The man crouched down where you couldn't see his face, the material the portal gave off was sprinkled over his body. The agents started to walk towards the man with their guns loaded. The man began to rise, he had some sort spear in his hand. His face became visible, the man had a devilish look on his face.
