Chapter Three-

The essence of greatness is the perception that virtue is enough.

- LOCATION: SHEILD HEADQUATERS -

- FURY IN A MEETING WITH THE COUNCIL OVER THE BIG SCREENS -

“This is out of line, Director. You're dealing with forces you can't control.” said the Councilmen second closest to the left.

Fury kept a non-emotional look on his faces as he questioned the man. “Have you've ever been in a war, Councilman? In a fire fight? Did you feel an over abundance of control?”

“You're saying this, Asgard, is declaring war on our plant?” questioned the same Councilperson.

“Not Asgard. Loki.”

“He can't be working alone.” stated the Councilwomen. “What about the other one, his brother?”

“Our intelligence says that Thor is not a hostile but he's worlds away. You can't depend on him to help either. It's up to us.” explained Fury, still no emotion leaked from his words.

A Councilmen soon cut in after Fury finished his last word. “This is why you should be focusing on Phase 2. It was designed for exactly-”

Fury cut off the Councilman in a stern voice. “Phase 2 isn't ready yet. Our enemy is. We need a response team.”

A different Councilmen responded to Fury's request. “The Avengers Initiative was shut down.”

“This isn't about the Avengers.”

“We're running the world's greatest covert security network, and you're going to leave the fate of the human race to a handful of freaks?”

“I'm not leaving anything to anyone. We need a response team. These people may be isolated, unbalanced even. But I believe with the right push they can be exactly what we need.”

“War isn't won by sentiment, Director. “

“No it's won by soldiers.”

- ADRIELLE'S ROOM IN LOKI'S HEADQUARTERS -

It has been a week, maybe five days well I lost count, since I was taken by Loki. I've gotten to spend time with him, talk to him, and basically understand the man. I believe he is a great man just...misunderstood.

''''

“Adrielle!” called Loki in a sing-song manner as he walked into my room.

“Mhm?” I asked, moaning slightly. It had to be at least six maybe seven in the morning, I was not ready to get up.

I could feel the Asgardian man sit next to me, he's weight shifting me closer to him. I tried to move away but I ended up falling off the other side of the bed.

“You mortals are so delicate.” chuckled Loki.

I rolled my eyes at his comment, shaking out my hair. “I'm taking a shower, you oaf.” I snickered.

- HELLCARRIER -

“Natasha!” Agent Hill shouted from the other side of the data room.

Quickly, the ex-Russian swiftly strutted over to Hill. “Agent.”

Maria turned her head. “My sister, any news about her whereabouts.”

“Nothing. We don't know where the base of Loki's operations are. When we find out where Loki is, then we find Elle.” explained Natasha.

“She's part of The Avengers...and SHEILD needs her.” choked out Maria. Agents of SHEILD hide emotions very well, but Hill was having trouble not missing her sister.

“You need her too ,Agent Hill. Don't worry I miss her too.” uttered the red-head before walking off.

- THE OTHER AND LOKI IN ADRIELLE'S ROOM AS SHE IS IN THE SHOWER -

Loki sat on the edge of Adrielle's bed twiddling his thumbs. He listened to her soft hums of random songs and the sounds of water splashing the ground.

A cold gust flew through the room, causing Loki to shiver. The god pulled the sleeve of his jacket down, covering his arms that were forming goosebumps.

“Loki..” sneered a chilling voice behind him.

His head snapped back coming face to face with The Other. Loki's bluish green eyes widened in terror knowing that he didn't fulfill the deed that The Other asked him to do.

“I see you haven't killed the girl yet.” snarled The Other. “Asgardian you know what she is, what she has inside her.”

Loki hesitated before speaking to the creature. “I need more time.”

“I've given you enough time.” growled The Other. “I want her heart.”

Loki raised an eyebrow, looking at his 'boss' in confusion. “Her heart?”

The Other chuckled. “You didn't know? Her ancestors are the ones who first found the tesseract on earth. They were witches in a small clan of Norse demigods of Freyja. Ásmundr was the leader of the clan during that time. When my ancestors tried to get the tesseract back, Ásmundr set a curse where a piece of the tesseract would lie in the heart of the purest witch in clan. The piece will unleash the full power the tesseract has, and of course Ásmundr wouldn't want us having all of the power. Years pasted and with each pure witch that came along was protect heavily by their family. The belief die as the human race began to evolve, making the new members of the clan think it was an old family legend. The power of the tesseract lies with your dear mortal Adrielle.”

Loki let out out a chuckle, “You must be mistaken. Adrielle is not close to pure, she is an assassin for America. She's killed more than forty of SHIELD's enemies.”

The Other threw Loki into the corner, grabbing onto his neck pinning him to the wall. “I want her heart. You will get me her heart!”

Loki let out a cough, before chocking out words. “She's not pure though! Not her or her sister. You have got the wrong family.”

The Other darkly chuckled, “Adrielle Hill is a virgin. She is pure because she is a virgin.”
