Warriors: A Shattered Clan

Chapter 5:Traveling

     "I don't know about this" Mossfire growled, her and Fawngaze had left camp to go to the sacred pool(their connection to Starclan).
"Stop worrying" the medicine cat said "they can't touch us" the grey and white she-cat wasn't convinced.
The two had stopped at the Viperclan border. Mossfire was still slightly shaken by the arrival of the Viperclan cats with their claims of a coming battle.
     "You don't want to go back to camp without your nine lives because you were afraid to go through Viperclan territory" Fawngaze said
     "I'm not afraid!" Mossfire growled "... I'm cautious"
     "Well then let's go" the dusty colored medicine cat said as she strolled into the other clan's territory.
    Mossfire grumbled but followed.

       "I hate trees" Mossfire mumbled, tripping over yet another vine. "We should have just gone around"
     "If we went around, we wouldn't be there till almost moonhigh" Fawngaze replied. Then a bush rustled up ahed.
       Four cats stepped out. Mossfire recognized Aldergaze, the deputy, as long as a black and brown she-cat named Dusktail she had seen at the gathering, but she didn't recognize the other two. They looked young, probably new apprentices.
    Aldergaze looked at the two cats. "What's your business here?" He asked.
     "Yah" one of the apprentices, a orange and white tabby tom, growled "this is our territory!"
     "Hawkpaw" Dusktail growled. The small tom backed up.
    "Just passing through, and that's all you need to know" Fawngaze replied, attempting to walk past, but was stopped by Aldergaze. He just then noticed Mossfire.
       The Viperclan deputy looked down and let them past. "I...I'm sorry..." he said before turning to his patrol. "Let's go." He said and padded away.
       Fawngaze walked on, but Mossfire stood there, watching where the other cats disappeared. "Coming?" Fawngaze called.
        Mossfire shook her head to clear it. "Yah" she said and followed the medicine cat.
     "If we keep a good pace, we should be there by nightfall" she said.

Fawngaze stopped in front of a cave entrance "we're here" she said, turning to Mossfire. "You ready?"
"No" Mossfire muttered "but I have to do what I have to do."
Fawngaze nodded and stepped into the dark cave. They walked for a while in the darkness, until they emerged into a cavern with a shimmering pool in the center.
Mossfire took a deep breath. This was happening. She was about to become leader of Hailclan, and she wasn't sure she was ready. Only time will tell.
