When Sasha went to the coffee shop the next day, Anthony wasn't there. She couldn't help but feel disappointed, though guiltily so. It had almost become a routine seeing him every morning. She usually had work every week day and weekends off, which she usually hit the café before going to work. She tried to think nothing of it and continued on with her day.
By the end of the week, Sasha was beginning to get concerned. He hadn't shown up for the rest of the week, which seemed strange considering he had gone every morning for weeks. She sat down at her desk, taking in a deep breath and pulling her phone out. She decided she would send him a text to check up on him. At this point, she didn't care much about whether or not he thought she was strange.
Sasha 6:49 am
-Hey, Anthony! I was wanting to check in on you and see if everything was okay. You haven't been at the café for a while.
She winced as she pressed the send button, hoping he wouldn't think she was clingy. This thought haunted her mind for about four hours, never getting a response. Her phone vibrated after the long time passed, and she picked it up eagerly.
Anthony 11:04 am
-Sorry for not getting back to you until now. I've been sick the past couple of days, so work hasn't really been happening. I'm hoping to be back in on Monday, though.
Sasha 11:06 am
-I'm so sorry you've been sick! Is there anything I can do?
Sasha couldn't help but feel guilty. He had only been gone since he visited her house the other day. What if that's what caused him to be sick? She rubbed her eyes, trying to shove the thought away. She picked her phone up after it vibrated again.
Anthony 11:08 am
-You're fine, don't worry about it. There's nothing either of us could have done to prevent me from getting sick.
She seriously doubted that last part.
