I pick up my special belt

And wind it around my trouser

Ah – now I'm ready to take off!

Ever since the good old man passed away,

I've been lonely,

I'd been looking out the window

And gazing at the young girls and boys

Come back home,

Having sought great fame and fortune.

For years I've always looked up to them:

They've treated me as one of them.

Now, as a young lad myself,

I go on a journey of my own.

I gaze heavenward

And wonder what they're all thinking of me now.

I close my door and turn around—

The entire village is gathered in front of me—

The women with tears in their eyes,

And the men with pride on their faces.

As for the older denizens:

They couldn't have been happier

To send yet another child of theirs

In search of the famed treasure.

Ever since the good old man passed away,

I've been lonely,

I'd been looking out the window

And gazing at the young girls and boys

Come back home,

Having sought great fame and fortune.

And now, it's my turn.

I turn my nose Northwards

And tell myself,

"That is where I want to be,

Wherever Destiny is going to take me.

She shall be my guide,

And I shall follow her alongside."

Ever since the good old man passed away,

I've been lonely,

I'd been looking out the window

And gazing at the young girls and boys

Come back home,

Having sought great fame and fortune.

And now, it's my turn.

I'm ready to take off!
