I'm Layla, I'm blond, I have green eyes, but everyone says they are always some other color. I'm not tall, but I'm not short. I can be a really big girly-girl or I can be like one of the guys. I mean playing video games can be like a second nature to me. I love fashion and looking nice, but shorts and a sweatshirt are always the most amazing thing to me. I'm also really into music, I love writing lyrics, I play the drums and a little bit of the guitar, singing is my main deal though.

I now have a step brother named Luke, he's older, but he's only older by like 5 days. We look a lot alike, for the most part. Like weird as in we still hardly know each other, but we look a crazy lot alike. Luke like freaks me out some days. I mean he's so quiet. I figured he would have been like really loud and annoying when I first met him at our parent's wedding, but he was shy.

My best friend's name is Michael. He's really weird. Like he is always dying his hair some crazy color! But I think he's my best friend because he's weird. He's crazy into video game's so we're always at each other throats when it comes to it. He can beat me at X-Box games, but when it comes to DS games like Pokemon, Mikey doesn't even have a chance. Mike's also really into music, so no matter what we've always got something going on.

My step brother has never met my best friend. Why? Well I'm not sure. I always just go over to Michael's house, he's never came to mine. Well he has, just not as much as I've gone to his. Today I believe Michael was coming to mine to pick me up and we were going to play video games at his place.

Right now I'm sitting in my new room in Austrailia. Me and my dad moved in with Luke and his mom Liz after the wedding. You see I'm American, but I have Aussie in me. I lived here before we moved in with them, we have since I was 9, but before we lived in the US, well when my mom was still alive. My mom died when I was 8 from cancer, we stayed an extra year because we needed time to move everything and sell the house.

It's been really hard without my mom, but now that my dad had married Liz, it's kind nice to have her. She'll never replace my real mom, but she's the best I've got an I already love her to death.

2010

Hello there... My name is Rian. Rian Fabrics. I'm a fourteen year old girl trying to make it in Sydney, a big shot town in Australia. I'm a total tom boy. I guess it makes sense since I grew up surrounded by boys. My mom died when I was only five, so all I've ever had were my dad, my three older brothers and two younger twin brothers. You usually won't ever see me out of a band tee and jean shorts, my means of transportation is a skateboard my dad got me when I was eleven, and my best friend is a boy.

My best friend would be none other than Calum Hood. I guess you can say we're best friends out of our love for music. Most people mistake him for Asian, but he's actually Kiwi. And Scottish. I guess you can say we balance each other. He keeps me in check when I get too sarcastic and rude, and I keep him from running a wild rampage. We're both not too fond of school. Calum wants to start a band, and I can't help but want to as well. He's an amazing Bass player and his voice is just as great. He always tells me I have a great talent with piano and he's always quick to compliment my voice, but I just can't help but think that he's just trying to be nice. He's not that much older than me, ten months to be exact so we're always the same age for two months. Right now he's fifteen though. Another perk (or maybe it's a curse?) of our friendship is that we always come up with nicknames for everyone we meet. We even have nicknames for each other. He calls me 'Cupcake' and I call him 'Sugar Lips' because people always think we're dating. Plus, it's quite catchy and fun.

Growing up around all guys also has it's benefits because I'm very influenced to be active. I play field hockey, I do dance, you can always see me racing people in bets or for fun, and I'm always riding my skateboard around town. I'm on the more fit side because of that. But I can't help but love food and video games as well. They're definitely my weakness.

The only thing I got from my mom was her looks. I got her crystal blue eyes, her long, wavy brown hair, her creamy tan skin, her tall-but-not-too-tall height, and her thin pink lips that gave off the most brilliant smile. I guess you can say I'm a spitting image of my mom. Hell, I hear it everyday. But I do thank her for making me beautiful. I can't go anywhere without guys practically drooling over me. I don't even mean to sound cocky! In all honesty, if I could get them to stare in the other direction, I would. But that's beside the point. I'm sure my mom was a lovely woman and I do miss her, even if I didn't know her that well.

I guess you can say I have no idea what I'm doing with my life. But I know with Calum by my side, we'll figure out something. Because that's just us, hand in hand, best friends for life. Or, so we promised.
