Flushed: a daveKat fanfiction

Chapter One

      Karkat smiled at Dave as they looked around at the world they had worked so hard and so long for. Dave grinned back at him and wrapped an arm around his waist as they gazed at the shining message in the sky of their new found home. "Thanks for playing."
      It seems like centuries ago they had first loaded the game and started on an adventure they never would have imagined. Something's had been hard and confusing but it had all led up to this moment when they could finally be at peace.
      During the three years on the meteor the two of them had grown closer to each other. They spent time with the mayor building can town together and just passing time. Now they had developed more complex feelings for the other even though they hadn't admitted it yet.
       "You ready to go exploring with the others?" Dave asked glancing down at him, an eye brow raised. Karkat nodded.
        "WE SHOULD PROBABLY HURRY, THE FUCKERS ALREADY RAN OFF WITH OUT US." Karkat rolled his eyes at the shrinking figures of his friends running happily to explore their new planet.
        "We could always go off exploring by ourselves and then meet up with them later." Dave suggested and Karkat agreed heading towards the metal towers of Can Town.
       It was amazing, the cans towering above them with the citizens bustling around busy with their daily life. Some of them would turn and greet them happily and then continue on with their day. They stopped at a tall tower made out of giant tab cans where a citizen was selling the soda for Boon Bucks.
      "I CANT BELIEVE WE FINALLY MADE IT." Karkat muttered as he sat in a near by chair. The glistening sun was already beginning to set turning the sky a gorgeous pink orange. Dave sat next to him and gazed up at the sunset and Karkat looked up at him. "DO YOU THINK IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER IF WE HAD NEVER PLAYED TO BEGIN WITH?" He asked narrowing his eyes in thought. Dave tilted his head and thought about it.
"Well somethings really fucking sucked but if it all led up to this then it was worth it." He answered glancing at Karkat with a smile.
             "I DONT THINK THINGS WOULD HAVE TURNED OUT GOOD AT ALL IF WE HADNT PLAYED. I MEAN FIRST OF ALL YOU AND JOHN AND EVERYBODY WOULDNT EVEN FUCKING EXIST AND THEN ON ALTERNIA HISTORY WOULD HAVE JUST REPEATED ITS SELF." Karkat thought grimly.
             "What do you mean? What history?" Dave asked, confused. Karkat sighed.
            "YOU KNOW MY BLOOD COLOR RIGHT?" He muttered staring at the ground. Dave nodded and Karkat continued. "WELL IF I HAD STAYED ON ALTERNIA AND SOMEONE FOUND OUT ABOUT IT I WOULD HAVE BEEN EXTERMINATED. ALL MUTANTS WERE KILLED AND ALL LOW BLOODS FORCED INTO SLAVERY."
         Dave was silent for a few seconds, his eyes widening behind his shades. "No offense or anything but troll culture sounds awful. Not that humans are any better. If I was born in the 1800s I would be hunted down and killed for my eye color." He stated grimly, pushing his shades up higher on his face.
        "THATS FUCKING STUPID. YOUR EYE COLOR SHOULDNT FREAKING MATTER THAT MUCH." Karkat half yelled, Dave shrugged and sighed.
        "Apparently it did to them. Anything that's abnormal will leave you discriminated no matter what species I guess. For the record I couldn't care less about your blood color. You shouldn't be ashamed of it." Dave said in a dead serious tone. There was silence for a few minutes until Karkat spoke up.
  "IF IT MEANS ANYTHING, I THINK YOUR EYES ARE REALLY BEAUTIFUL.." Karkat said turning a bright red color and quickly looking away. Dave blushed and smirked a little.
  "Was that flirting right there?" He asked, the smirk growing wider. Karkat grew redder.
"IT WAS JUST A FUCKING COMPLIMENT IDIOT." Karkat squealed trying to hide his face and shoving Dave away. Dave laughed a little and wrapped an arm around Karkat.
              "I'm glad we're bros dude." He smiled looking back at the setting sun. Karkat snarled and leaned onto Dave's shoulder.
              "YOURE A FUCKING ASSHOLE BUT ME TOO." He muttered staring at the sky as well.
