Flushed: a daveKat fanfiction

Chapter Two

        Dusk had fallen as the two of them sat there watching the sky. Karkat had slowly fallen asleep on Dave's shoulder with a small smile on his face. Dave yawned as he looked back down at him to find him in his sleeping state. He smirked slightly and draped his cape over the troll's shoulders and wrapped an arm around him.
       He really was quite adorable when sleeping, like all of the stress he has just melted away. It kinda made him want to hug, kiss him and never let go. Dave shook his head, what is he thinking. They were just friends, besides he doubted Karkat would ever want to be something other than that with him.
      A gush of air pulled Dave out of his thoughts as he quickly looked up to see john floating above him. "Oh there you guys are!" John said with a smile as he landed gently on his feet. "We've been looking all over for you once we realized you were missing." Johns eyes landed on Karkat's sleeping form and raised an eyebrow at Dave curiously causing Dave to blush slightly.
     "Were you guys on a date or something?" He asked with confusion. Dave shook his head, turning even redder.
"We were just exploring on our own as bros, nothing else." He stated quickly. John shrugged and nodded.
"Well I'm sure you don't wanna stay here all night. I can show you to the city we're staying in!" Dave nodded as John floated himself up with a gust of wind. He picked Karkat up bridal style and floated up as well. The two of them flew towards the bright lights of another city in the distance.
The city was full of tall skyscrapers and bustling city streets. John led Dave to a building near the center of the city and touched down in front of the entrance.
"Here it is!" John stated proudly. "It's only temporary until we all choose our own homes to live in but it's still pretty nice." They entered through the doorway to the large lobby area where they saw Rose sitting and talking with Kanaya. Seeing the three of them Rose got up and walked over, Kanaya following behind her.
"There you are, we were just contemplating whether or not to go out and search for you again." Rose stated as her eyes then fell onto Dave and Karkat. "Oh, have you finally admitted your true feelings to each other?" She smirked, glancing up at Dave who frowned slightly and tried to cover the blush reappearing to his face.
"Just because you study psychology doesn't mean you automatically know who people like." He said returning his stoic look to his face.
Rose sighed. "You constantly being together and Laughing with each other. You even told me he's one of the few people you actually trust and feel really happy with. It's pretty obvious you have more advanced feelings for him than others." Rose finished looking up at him for a response.
"That's just because we're friends." Dave stated curtly and put Karkat down on the couch only for him to stir awake.
"WHA.. HOW THE FUCK DID WE GET HERE?" Karkat questioned as he sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
"Dave carried you over since you were asleep. This is where we're staying till we find permanent residences!" John answered. Karkat looked around only to yawn.
          "I GUESS ITS BETTER THAN THAT FUCKING METEOR.." another yawn came out of him as he gazed tiredly at them. "IS THERE A PLACE I CAN GO TO SLEEP?"
          "Yup, there's one room left, since you and Dave were the last to get here it's yours." John answered leading them down the hall to the room they'd be staying in. "See you in the morning, I think we're all gonna need a lot of rest." They waved bye to John and opened the door.
           It was medium sized with two twin sized beds, one on each side. A large dresser stood in the middle of the wall between the beds along with a lamp. A door next to the entrance led to the bathroom.
           "FIGURES ITS ONE OF YOUR HUMAN BEDS INSTEAD OF A RECUPERACOON." Karkat muttered as he sat down on the bed and laid down.
            "Yeah, no offense but I prefer my human bed more than your slime filled pod." Dave snickered as he laid down as well.
            "OH SHUT UP." Karkat sighed angrily. Dave laughed and turned to face him.
            "Good night dude." He smiled as he closed his eyes.
            "GOOD NIGHT.." Karkat grumbled as he drifted to sleep.
