"Yes movie night! I'm so excited!"
"Mom don't be such a geek" I teased
"Look who's calling me a geek you chose Star Trek to watch tonight"
"Well, Star Trek is good unlike Star wars"
"Don't get me started on that argument Sage"
"Fine, now can we start the movie." I got up from the couch and grabbed the wooden bowl of popcorn from the coffee table,
"Oh! Honey can you grab the bowl of chips too? I'm so exhausted." Lately my mom has been tired and I don't know why.
"Here you go mom."I handed the bowl to her
*Ring,Ring*
"I'll Get it" I said as I got up from the couch again
"Okay Sweety"
"Hello?" I answered confidently
"Yes is this the Conrad Residence? I need to speak to Alice Conrad." A bold female voice responded
"Speaking?"
"We have your blood test results."
"Yes and?" I questioned
"I'm afraid that they positive...and you have a rare disease of Anti-TBM nephritis in your kidneys."
"What?" I muttered under my breath
"What was that?"
"Um, thanks for calling" I tried to find the END button on my home phone ,but I couldn't seem to find it. I was shocked, how could I be thanking this doctor when she just explained to me that my mother has some sort of disease in her kidneys and I could possibly lose her.
"Wait," I froze in my tracks "before you hang up I'd like you to schedule an appointment with me in my office to discuss some business about what your really getting into with this disease."
"Oh yes"I couldn't go any longer "Can we schedule it November... 5th or 6th at 10:00 am or 12:00 pm?"
"Sage I know it's you." my heart dropped, I've been discovered "Can you please pass the phone to your mother?"
"Yes ,but first can you not speak about this to my mother?" I practically begged
There was a long moment of silence
"...Sure."
"Thank you" That time I really meant it
I slowly walked to the living room
"What took you so long?"mom asked
"Oh...Um I was talking to Lana and a call from your doctor interrupted" I lied
"It's okay I'll answer it" she got up and took the phone
"Yes?" And that's when she went through what I felt about the news.
