P R O L O G U E
Do you believe in fairytales? What about happy endings? Does true love really last forever? Do promises never break?
Umupo ako at sumandal sa puno katabi niya. He wrapped his arms around me. Hiniga ko naman ang ulo ko sa kanya.
“The sky is so blue. Isn’t it, Samantha?” he said as he looks up in the bright sky. I lifted my head to stare at his flawless face. Dahan-dahan siyang tumingin sakin at nginitian ako.
“Yes it is, Christian.” I replied, smiling back. Hinigpitan niya ang yakap niya sa akin at patuloy naming tinitigan ang langit.
Everytime we do this, it feels like heaven. Parang gusto kong itigil ang oras. Gusto kong magdamag akong nakakulong sa yakap ni Christian. Alam kong any day, hour, minute or second, mawawala na ako sa tabi niya. Darating na ang oras na.. iiwan ko na din ang taong pinakamahal ko. I don’t want 12:00 AM to come. All I want is to stay here by his side, and never disappear.
Bigla akong nakaramdam na nagpunas sa mukha ko. I just realized, he wipped off the tear that fell from my eyes. Hindi ko namalayang maiiyak na ako sa mga iniisip ko ngayon.
He raised my chin. “If ever that day comes, we don’t have to worry about anything. Wala namang mababago kung mawala ka sa tabi ko diba? Walang magbabago sa pag-ibig natin kahit na.. kahit na iwanan mo na ang mundong ito.” he smiled again, but what breaks my heart is that his smile.. has sadness in his eyes.
“Promise me,” I started to sob, “Promise me that when I’m no longer by your side, singing songs to you and wishing together on a shooting star, nothing will change. Arasso?”
“Nothing, nothing will ever change even if you lost your battle. I promise.”
I am facing a battle, where my life relies on. No one knows kung mananalo ba ko dito... o matatalo. That’s why I didn’t want 12AM to come. Who knows, maybe after today, pagsapit ng kinabukasan.. I might leave this beautiful world. Tomorrow, baka hindi ko na ulit makita ang mga kaibigan at pamilya ko. Tomorrow, baka hindi ko na mayayakap si Christian.
“Sshh, don’t cry. Diba malakas ka naman? Kaya mo ito. I know that you’ll never leave us here.” pinunas niya ulit ang mga luha ko. I just can’t help it. Tuwing iniisip ko na matatalo ako, all I can do is cry.
Napatigil ako ng ilang segundo. Hindi ko alam kung bakit pero bigla ko nalang natanong, “Christian, how much do you love me?”
“Why did you ask?” he faced me. “Words can’t explain how much I love you. You are my world, you have been always my dream that came true. I love you to infinity and beyond.”
“Cause when the water dries up, and the moon stops shining, stars fall, and the world goes blind, Samantha you know... I’ll be saving my love for you.”
