Too Hot To Function

Surprise bitch! Bet you thought you'd seen the last of me!

So I updated twice on the same night, consider it my apology for not finishing the Christmas story and being a terrible updater this year (also because my last update was so short)

So it's an hour until Christmas officially starts here in NZ and I feel nothing. I have no idea where my Christmas spirit has gone, it's like it decided to take a road trip around Europe or something. Hopefully when the presents start to pile into my open arms I'll finally get in the mood.

So Merry Christmas (again) and enjoy!

"I have officially died." I declared dramatically. "You guys are gonna have to take me back home in a coffin but please make sure it's air conditioned or my corpse will shrived up like a prune."

"You do realise the pool is right over there?" Niall asked, pointing at the strip of water I could barely make out as the mid-day sun danced across the surface.

"It's too hot to move," I complained. "How do people even live here? It's only spring and it already feels like summer took steroids!"

"Tell me about it," Chelsea huffed. "I swear I have gone through so many bottles of sunscreen it's not funny and I still got sunburnt!"

"Me too. I had a goal this year to not get sunburnt at all and I think it's safe to say that I've failed epically." I said. "At least I get a tan out of it."

"Lucky bastard," Chelsea muttered. No matter what she did, she still remained as white as vanilla ice cream. Speaking of ice cream, I could really go for some right about now.

"Hey, I have an idea. Let's go get some ice cream." I suggested. "Cold Rock is only across the street so we won't have to wait too long."

"Get me mint choc chip with M&Ms and sprinkles!" Niall requested. He couldn't go, otherwise he'd get mobbed so he gets us to do his dirty work (because fetching ice cream is such a hard task. Great, you're back. Now will you please piss off? No. Then I'm just gonna ignore you. You do that, but I'll still be here. Waiting. Forever and ever and ever...)

"Sure thing. Coming Chelsea?" I asked. She got up and we reluctantly made our way out of the shade and into the blistering hot sun. I was so glad I was wearing shoes right now because I'm pretty sure you could've fried an egg on the concrete in this heat. I hate to think what could happen to my poor, delicate feet.

"When do you think the others will be back?" Chelsea asked as we waited at the lights.

"Who knows." I replied. The other five had gone shopping in the city of Sydney, leaving me, Chelsea and Niall to lie around in the pool area and complain about the heat. We three are pretty much heat intolerant.

"Yus, its air conditioned!" I rejoiced upon stepping into Cold Rock. I'd only been to the ice cream shop once before when I last visited Australia with my family. They are the best ice cream place I've even been to. Even after four years I have yet to find a place that even comes close to rivalling them.

"Can I have one mint choc chip with M&Ms and sprinkles," I said, giving the girl behind the counter Niall's order. "And also an apple sorbet with white chocolate chips please."

"Can I have the orange choc chip with a wafer please." Chelsea ordered. The girl nodded before quickly preparing our orders and handing them to us before turning to some other customers that had just walked in.

"Come on, come on, come on," I muttered, waiting impatiently for the lights to change. I was in charge of carrying Niall's ice cream, meaning I couldn't dig into mine and with the intense heat wave going on, they was already beginning to melt.

"Fucking finally!" I cried, dashing across the street followed by a slower Chelsea who was happily digging into her frozen food.

"There you go Irish potato!" I grinned, placing the cardboard carton of mint choc chip ice cream on the table beside Niall's chair.

"Thank you me lady," he smiled with an awkward, sitting down bow. I snorted, nearly choking on my mouthful.

"I'm okay, I'm okay," I said after getting my cough under control with a few thumps to the chest. The two of them simply rolled their eyes, attention quickly returning to their deliciously cool treat that they'd worked so hard for (because walking across a street is just that exhausting. Oh shut up)

Yep, pretty sure I'm never moving the Australia.
