Chapter 3 : Mysterious Necklace

HI HI! I'm back~ This is just a short chapter because I really wanted to update but due to school and the assignments that are now piling up... Yea.. ANYWAY the next chapter will be longer! I promise ;) Hope you enjoy it ~ SEE YOU AT THE ENDDDDD

"Did you hear that?" I heard footsteps walking towards the door.

I quickly ran off and away from the kitchen. So many thoughts were running through my head. He liked me? Wait no, he loves me. Love. Who would have thought... But why?! I don't know how I feel about this. I ran and ran. I kept running, I don't know where I was going but I just ran. Until I heard somebody yelling.

"EVIE?!" I heard Mason yell. I quickly stopped, I looked around to see where I was. I somehow ended up in the backyard. The crystal clear pool shined in the sunlight and I saw my reflection staring back at me. My eyes were still red and puffy from crying. Ugh I look like a mess...

"Evie?" Mason said behind me. I turned around to see him looking at me with a worried face. He quickly ran towards me and suddenly hugged me. I just stood there, confused. I need to get away from him, my thoughts are all jumbled up. After 5 seconds of hugging, he finally let me go.

"Hm I have to go and pack..." I said smiling up at him.

"Oh yea of course, need help?" He asked smiling back with his cute boyish smile. Ugh I can't fall for him, no no no no no.

"I'm okay, I'll call you if I need you." I said before speeding off.

I am leaving. I am actually leaving. Could you believe it? I honestly can't. Majority of life I have been living here. I'll miss everyone... But to be honest I don't even know where I'm moving. For all I know, I'm moving to another country! I sighed and walked over to my closet to pack all my clothes. Unfortunately there's only one walk - in closet in each bedroom and Hailey already claimed it by the time I got here. I grabbed a bunch of clothes that were hanging and stuffed them into my biggest luggage bag. I've never used my luggage bag before. Hailey gave it to me for my birthday last year, and so why not. As I was packing my clothes, I found a necklace at the bottom of my closet.

"That's weird, I've never seen this before..." I thought picking the necklace up from the closet floor. The necklace had a simple silver chain and a deep blue jewel. Hmmm I've never bought anything like this..? I looked closely at the jewel. It was stunning. It actually looked like a sapphire, but it also looked like a stone. But I've never seen anything as beautiful as this before. It was simple but yet I found it beautiful. Wait, didn't my mum own something like this? I was staring at it when suddenly it started glowing. WAIT WHAT IT'S GLOWING. I looked at it shocked. WHY IS IT GLOWING?! I quickly throw it onto my now empty and plain white bed. I saw it glowing from my bed. I slowly walk towards it. WHAT IS THIS? IS THIS A BOMB OR SOMETHING?

"What are you doing?" A voice said suddenly behind me.

"AHHHH WHY IS PEOPLE SCARING ME SO MUCH TODAY." I screamed turning around. I turn around to see Hailey looking at me with a weird expression.

"You're the one being scared so easily." She said while walking into the room.

"Yea yea I'm a scaredy cat." I said rolling my eyes.

"Anyway, do you need help?" She asked sitting on her bed.

"Hm OH yea I found t-" I said before looking at my bed. Wait. I looked at the spot where i left the necklace, WHERE DID IT GO?! I just looked at my bed dumbfounded.

"Hm... Why are you staring at your bed like that?" Hailey asked looking at me concern.

If I told her she probably wouldn't believe me. I can't believe this myself either.

"Oh hm nothing." I said quickly standing straight back up.

"Sure sure," she said standing up, "I'm going to get food." She announced before walking out of the room. Wait, what time is it? I look up at the wall clock Hailey hung up few years ago. 12 : 30 pm. Oh lunccchhhh timmeeeeeee!!! But first, I have to check something. I quickly bent down under my bed and I reached for the black box where I keep all my private stuff. I pull it out and blew the dust off. Geez I haven't touched this in a while. I open the box to see a bunch of photos of my family and stuff I treasure. I reach into the box to pick up a photo of my whole family. It was the picture of us at the beach, we all looked happy... Mum's dark brown hair was in a bun, she was chasing my younger brother Elliot around with my dad. My older sister Evelyn was building a sandcastle and I was taking the picture. For a 4 year old to take the picture, I think it looked pretty good. I smiled at the picture one last time before placing it back into the box. I look around the box to find the picture I needed.

"AHA FOUND YOU." I screamed pulling a picture out of the box. The picture was a picture of me and my mum. I'm half Chinese and half Australian. Mum was Chinese while dad was Australian. In the picture mum was reading me a story book. I don't remember what it was about but we looked happy. I shake my sad thoughts away and focused on my mum. Her dark brown hair in a bun, as always. She was wearing a plain white shirt with a grey cardigan on the top. I looked at her neck area to see the necklace. It looked exactly like the necklace that vanished. Oh well that's creepy... Maybe I was just imagining the necklace? I shrugged before placing the picture back into the box and went downstairs to grab lunch.

I honestly am worried for all Americans right now.. I don't live in America but this does affect the whole world. HOPE YOU ALL AMERICANS ARE SAFE.
