Running nightmare

Ch 1- The Team

I hear screaming in my head haunting me. The screeches of the tires. Crunching of metal. I feel horrible pain in my right leg.

The next thing I remember is an ambulance ride. wight hospital lights then darkness. When I finally wake up I look around confused of where I am. I look down at my body and see one leg full length. the other stops mid shin. A sharp pain fills my heart. I try and wake up like I'm in a night mare. I am except this is not my dream. This night mare is my life.

I snap back into reality in Jack's arms on the ground. I am shaking. I hear Jack say " Its alright thats over you had a flash back." I stutter out " But it felt so real. Like I was in the wreak again."

I take a little while and recollect myself. "ok I'm fine now." Jack helps me up and we begin to walk to the park. we see the team and I am immediately swarmed. This I don't mind. I love the team.

I yell "alright now keep stretching I don't need y'all injured!" A mix of wining and laughter fills my ears. I smile and walk. more like limp over to coach.

"Glad to see your getting around pretty good." said coach Jonson

"You just couldn't stay away could you

Sam?"

"You know me to well to know I would be back as soon as I could." I said with a smile on my face.

"So are you going to run today?" asked coach Jonson with hope in his voice.

"I-I can't I don't have a running prosthetic." I say sadly.

"Oh well I'm still glad to see you here supporting the team." He says with a smile sadness in his eyes.

After practice Jack and I ride to Cardinals like we do once a week after practice and get burgers and shakes.

"Did you see the way he looked at me when I told him I couldn't run." I said. "He looked so disappointed."

"Well sam you came to practice and you where on your two feet well foot walking. He probably thought you where going to run."

" I hate when your right." I say

"Arn't I always right though." He said with a smirk. I punch his arm and he winces.

"So I saw you and Caleb battling it out for first."

"Yeah but he's more talented than me. So I don't think that will last long."

" Don't you start saying that. you work harder than Caleb ever thought about. if you keep working hard nothing can stop you."

"Thanks sam I needed to hear that."

" Well I think we should head to my house the team should be there by now."

My house is where the team goes after practice it still is even though I can't run. We have a open door policy. My mom died when I was young so its just me my dad and my older brother.

We have a small house in the country. there's a small apartment on top of our shop diagonal from the house.

when I was young I fell in love with it. So thats where my room is.

When I get to the shop I hear a loud noise so I know the team is already there. Jack has to help me up the stairs. when I get up there the pizza is already open in the kitchen. The boys are all on the X box. On the other TV the girls where playing one of my many movies.

"Hey sam! You came just in time to watch me kick Clay's but in COD." said Freddy

" I could take both of you at once." I say

""Don't start with her Freddy she will murder you. "Says Jack

"To late pass me a controller." I say with confidence

I beat them in several rounds with ease.

" Ok boys hand over your man cards cause you have been beat." I say with the final kill.

After they all leave its just me and Jack left. he stays in the apartment with me most of the time he has a separate room. His mom died when he was little and his dad is a drunk. so he tries to stay away.

"So Sam how was your first day back to high school?" he asked

"Well same as usual guys drooling at my well foot." I said with extreme sarcasm

"Well thats good. So what are you going to do now?"

" I am going to clean this mess up while you go take a shower because you smell horrible."

"Ok fine I guess I do after I take a shower we'll watch a movie."

"Ok hurry up" I say as I start on cleaning the living room and doing dishes. When I was done cleaning I put in Divergent my favorite movie at the time. When he gets out he sits next to me and we watch the movie.
