The universe has it's twisted way of working out

we all suffer just for what?

we carry burdens for some years

and hope we'll be rewarded when we die

but let's be honest,

we're all hopeless (and a little helpless)

we hold onto empty promises

and pray for it all to be forgotten.

we're sinners driven by desire,

desire to have the best,

desire to better than everyone else.

we all put on this big facade

trying to convince others that we care

I suppose we care

but just about ourselves.

we're all just stupid, selfish liars

drunken on the idea that love is the answer

for problems that can't be solved,

for problems that won't ever be resolved,

for problems made by troubled people

incapable of understanding

that in the end none of this will matter

because everything is pointless and it is all temporary

so as opposed to contrary belief,

don't work hard for things

don't love too hard

and don't get attached too much

because at the end

none of this will be remembered

not that you were humble,

not that you were strong

not even that you were loved

because we will all be oblivion

and oblivion knows no such thing as love.
