After Smee left to go tell the rest of the crew the Captain’s order, Emma looked at Killian’s hook.

It took her time, but she figured out that he is Hook. “Why weren’t you taken by the curse?” Emma asked curiously wondering how many other fairytale characters she doesn’t know yet.

Killian sighed before saying “A friend of mine casted a protection spell over part of the land and we weren’t affected by the curse. Well we were frozen for 28 years but we hadn’t forgotten ourselves like the rest of the Enchanted Forest.”

Emma wanted to know who this friend is and if she would have to worry about them having Hook’s heart. “Who is this friend of yours?” Emma asked curiously.

“Her name is Cora.” Hook responded with no emotion.

“Cora? I’ve never heard a fairytale about her. Who is she? Can you tell me more about her?” Emma said.

Not having a fairytale means one thing. They are evil. She never heard of Regina until she came to Storybrooke. She had heard of the Evil Queen but not her name.

“Do you know who the Evil Queen is?” Hook said and Emma quickly nodded, having felt Regina’s wrath before. “Her mother is Cora.”

“I see.” Emma said strongly.

She would protect Henry from Cora. Especially if she is anything like her daughter, she would need to protect Henry from his adoptive grandmother. It was strange how things worked out. Regina is Mary Margaret’s stepmother and also Henry’s adoptive mother. It was all so confusing, but it worked out in the end.

Emma walked around on the deck thinking of ways she could protect Henry. Regina would most likely team up with her mother to get Henry. To steal Henry away from her, Emma would need help. All the royal guards in the Enchanted Forest protecting Henry, still wouldn’t make her feel any better. If Regina was powerful in reality, she never wanted to see her in the Enchanted Forest with all her magic back.

Mary Margaret and David told her stories about Regina and what she would do. Emma didn’t always believe them, but she knew that she was capable to doing evil things to get what she wants. Regina wasn’t afraid of hurting anyone to get what she wants. Emma would have to protect Henry.

Killian went up to the steering wheel, deciding to take Emma himself back to the Mainland. He thought maybe he could give up being a pirate and devote the rest of his life to figuring out the puzzle that was just walking along on his deck. She was beautiful and he was sure he could love her.

He could love her one day maybe even more than Milah. She did distract his mind from Milah for a while until he made himself think about her. That was his fault not hers. Knowing how strongly he felt towards this girl he would probably take the blame for everything and anything to protect her, from ever getting hurt again. He did promise her that he would never let anything hurt her. He keeps all of his promises and he sure wasn’t going to break this one.

His promise made him happy, it gave him an excuse to be around her. To protect her. To be her knight in shining armor. To make her happy. He only hoped that her son would be happy to have him around, because he could tell his opinion on things meant a lot to her. Things that meant a lot of her he wasn’t going to get in the way of. He just wanted her to be happy. He hope her being happy would be with him.

The sun set not long after all of this and Killian walked away from the steering wheel and towards Emma. “Emma, love, it’s time to eat super.” Killian calmly said stroking a lock of her golden hair.

“Alright what are we eating?” Emma said happily blushing because she loved the feeling of Killian brushing his fingers through her hair. She hadn’t felt this way since Neal. She wanted to impress the pirate who was giving her these butterflies in her stomach.

“We shall see follow me m’lady.” Killian said walking towards the door that leads below deck. They walked until they met the rest of the crew who were already stuffing their faces with the food in front of them.

“Lads, lads, we have a lady present manners.” Killian said like a leader. The crew sat up properly and ate like normal people. Emma tried to hide the blush on her face.

Killian pulled out a chair for Emma and Emma quickly sat down. While Killian pushed her in he told her what they were having for dinner. Emma smiled, she loved when guys pull out a chair for her it made her feel special. Killian keeps making her feel special. It caused the butterflies in her stomach to go crazy. She wondered if Hook felt the same way or at least had the butterflies.

Emma kept trying to tell herself love is weakness, love is weakness, because the last time she was in love Neal broke her heart. It will be different this time he is a gentleman, unlike like Neal. She wasn’t sure if what she felt towards this pirate was love, but it was a strong feeling. A strong positive feeling. Maybe it could be love. Maybe one day, but for now she was just gratefully for him letting her on his ship.

While they ate dinner, they had small talk. Small talk for a princess and a pirate that is.

The rest of the crew left the duo and did not disturb them. They could sense the feeling, but even they weren’t able to put a name on it. Falling in love in one day was impossible. They were sure it was not love, not yet, not yet. They couldn’t see their Captain go through another heartbreak, like he did with Milah. After Milah had died he went crazy. He wouldn’t sleep, wouldn’t eat or drink, he was always planning how to kill the crocodile. Once he had a plan then he went back to normal, but they knew about his nightmares.

The Captain would force himself to sleep and would call out ‘Milah!’ in the middle of night. The Captain’s eyes were always puffy in the morning and if anyone asked him about it, they would walk the plank. They were worried about their Captain. After Milah died he became cold and mean to the crew. They couldn’t imagine the Captain losing another girl and how it would affect him. For now they were grateful. Grateful they he wasn’t rude to them, since the blonde got on the ship.

They weren’t sure how long the Captain would be like this, so they still stayed out of his way. They all acted gingerly around him. If someone says one wrong thing or does one wrong thing he could explode, possibly scare off the girl, which would most likely make the Captain even more mad. He would go crazy  they thought without a doubt. They had to do everything in their power to make sure that their Captain does not lose this magical girl.

It was a record for the Captain to not yell at them for the lousy job they were doing, they needed this girl to keep him this way. They wanted their Captain happy, because after all a happy captain is a happy crew.
