When the train arrives in Waunakee, the town seems to Phil, just like all the other places they've stopped at along the way.Over the speaker,a woman says,"Ladies and gentlemen, due to a crashed train, our stop at this station will be longer than planned. We'll be here for about 4 or 5 hours." "Want some fresh air?" his father asks. Phil looks out of the train window. There is a gravel parking lot beside the old train station.Across the road, are several bleak houses whose front windows look towards the tracks. He sees an elderly couple sitting side by side on lawn chairs.Hands interlocked, peering out into the world in front of them.
Phil wishes he had a relationship like that.He had only one girlfriend his whole life. They barely dated that long. She was a brat and wanted Phil to give her everything and do everything for her.Phil had realized he was gay.He had always had an attraction towards guys,he just never wanted to say it.All the kids and teachers in his school said being gay was a sin.Even his own mother didn't like him being gay.She said that he's just going through a phase. That every boy his age goes through a phase where they think they're gay.Phil knew he was gay,he knew it wasn't just a phase. He was 18 years old and honestly shouldn't be living with his parents anymore. He decided to never mention his sexuality around his dad.He knew, having the relationship he had with Phils mom, they probably had the same opinion on it.
Phils dad must have realized he was daydreaming and snapped his fingers in front of Phils face, bringing Phil out of his trance.
They step off the train. The air is crisp and has a bite to it.There is snow on the rooftops and on the rooftops and on the grass.Phil looks back at the rusted, old train. The same torture chamber that's been taking them across the country.Hes already spent 2 nights aboard it.Its winter break and his dad has decided this would be a good trip to take together.Even though Phil wasn't really into trips. He preferred just sitting on his bed,in a nice and warm onesie, with some hot cocoa. And the most important part, his laptop and phone. He could watch YouTube or scroll through Tumbler while also looking at Instagram!
"You're loving this trip." his father says."If you say so." Phil replies. His father sighs and looks at him. "Not at all?" Phil shrugs. Shrugging was very efficient. It could mean lots of things. "I've told you,it's a trip I've wanted to take with you for a long time." replies his father. "Because you're blocked." Phil says. His father inhales in and frowns.
They walk to the edge of the parking lot.The road goes nowhere, both left and right. "What are we gonna do for 5 hours?" asks Phil. A large tractor pulls out of the parking lot, revealing a sign that reads. Klack Brothers Museum. 1 Mile North.
"Klack Brothers Museum,I wonder what kind of stuff they have there." His father says. "I can take you,you keep telling me how bored you are.Lets see something new!" "Alright." Says Phil, not sounding very excited. Little did Phil know that the person he was waiting for,was waiting in that museum.
