Phil and his father were on the walk to the museum.Phils father decided to break the silence and discuss the history of the museum."These 2 brothers apparently came out from England about 140 years ago. They ran a circus for a while, then decided to build a village somewhere in the middle of nowhere. They built a huge manor for themselves and waited for people to come along, but the railway built to far to the south and didn't give them a spur line.So after a while,it turned into a ghost town.About 15 years ago,one of their relatives turned it into a museum." Phil was surprised with how much his father knew about the museums history. He had a sinking feeling in him that there would be old ladies telling him how to churn butter,or old men in barns telling him how a rope is made. If he's lucky, maybe a blacksmith would bang on a horseshoe. Even if Phil wanted to know these things, couldn't he just look it up on the internet.
Soon they pass through a gate a stop beside a small cottage with a thatched roof. A sign above it reads "Tickets,Snacks,Gifts" "I guess we get our tickets in here." Says Phils father. "Maybe there's a cowboy hat in her that you can buy." Phils says as they walk through the door. His father gives him a withering look. Inside is an elderly man behind the counter. "We'd like to see the museum." Says Phils father. "How old is the boy?" The man says, staring hard and straight into Phils eyes. "Eighteen." "That will be twenty dollars please." Says the old man. "You'll want to start in the manor house." Says the man. "Turn right out the doors"The manor house is an impressively large pile of stones. The lower floor is all stone tables covered with small trinkets. To Phil,it looks like a school craft fair. There are miniature carts, horses, model farm buildings, and general stones with ancient goods set around them. "It's not really a museum at all,is it? whispers Phil. His father shakes his head. It's just a bunch of stuff, really.
Phil heads up the stairs alone and walks down the main hallway. He keeps checking the time on his phone. He doesn't want to miss the train. He passes only one other family, the girl looks as bored as he does. She looks up at him and suddenly feels not as bored as she was only seconds ago. "Hey cutie!" She says to Phil all flirty like. "IM GAY!!!" Phil shouts and runs away, hoping his dad didn't hear him scream that. When Phil enters the parlor,hi eyebrows life in interest. It's set up like a circus. Divided into many stalls with tattered but colorful posters over each one. "Louise the Human Snake" "Chris the Cardiff Giant" "PJ the Indestructible Heart"
Eagerly,Phil moves from stall to stall. Louise is a disappointment. She's just some big scraps of snake skin sewn together to make a torso. Chris is just a huge body encased in a stone slab. PJ is the creepiest of all. It floats inside a big tank of muddy and murky water. It looks real to Phil. Plump and moist. At the far end of the room is a windowless wooden shack. The sign reads "Ghost Boy". Phil tries to open the door, but it's locked."Thats extra." Says the old man suddenly at Phils side. "What's the ghost boy?" Asks Phil. "That's my star attraction. Its two dollars, just a little extra.Ill let you both in for free." Phil looks over to see his dad approaching. "Tell us about him." Says his father. The man nods. "He's about 16 years old.No one knows how he died.Theres a whole legend behind him that says the ghost Boy is trapped by something. And when his 'true love' saves him.He will be brought back to life to live as a human.I don't know he needs to be 'saved' or what from. "The ghost Boy sounds interesting." Says Phil. The man nods and turns to face Phil. "He is,but please, call him by his real name." "What's his name?" asks Phil. The man puts his hand on the ghost boys door."Dan"
