Scaly. Lifeless. Dead. It was already withered, and no breath of nature or imagination could bring life back into it's bones. Nothing was left of the kind, pale body I had grown to love over the decades and centuries. We had lived together, in harmony, thriving off of the mere existence of each other.
But now those feelings were gone. The existence... Was gone. It. Was gone.
I felt myself sink to my knees, but no sound reached my ears from my collapse-- and then the pain disappeared from my bony knees, all feeling draining until it was lost from my body. I was starting to feel numb, absolute numbness, and the feeling it brought travelled up my throat.
Wretched bile spewed from my lips, and I jerked forwards, throwing myself into a position on my hands and knees. My shoulders were shaking, my arms were shaking, my back, my legs, my entire body. I trembled, violently, powerless to do anything but see as vomit hacked from my stomach over, and over, and over again. Memories of it's lifeless body stung my eyes, pricking tears to the surface that I had never known before. Never before have I cried. Never before have I felt tears. Pain, I have not felt since my beginning years-- my years of solitude and banishment. Exile. The exile wrought upon me by the corrupted justice of them. The exile that this lifeless frame had saved me from.
Only now, that this has happened...
A burning acid swirled in my stomach, congregating with what was left of my last dinner. My last dinner with...
I gagged, saliva dripping from my lips mixed with red globules of substance. I hurled, and blood rained from my stomach. It forced it's way through my nose and I snorted in surprise, bringing the thick metallic liquid to my lungs.
Coughing, and choking, I lay myself down, staring at the shining expanse of her. Of him. It. We had been together, but we could not be no more. Never again would her powerful wings strike against the earth, never again would she fly with me high above the humans.
She was dead. It was dead. The boy inside her... He was dead. The smooth, pale human form was gone, all magic leaving this place. Left behind was only this shell, this heap of scales lapping over each other in a magnificent array of colors. Red, orange, yellow, blue, green, purple, black, and then blood... Wretched blood, of the divine creature. This creature that had saved my life, when I was hardly but a babe.
She was dead. Gone from this world, completely taken into the world devoid of living.
"Who...."An anger flashed in my eyes, on caliber with nothing I had ever felt before. My eyes flashed red, and then I was no longer seeing from myself.
"Did this...?"
